@Engineerisaac@blackpoint_vrc@tw_harunadev@VRChat Yeah that's not how .VRCW files work, at all. They're derived from unity asset bundles which by design contain no compiled code. Even if a world was uploaded with malicious code injected, the unexpected data would cause it to fail the server side security checks anyway
@parzvrc Anyone who says it didn't get rid of the bad actors is disingenuous. There has been an objective, massive decrease in malicious users and every major client distributor packed up and left within months of the update's release
Doing a rework of my old Booth avatar since I've learned quite a bit in the past few years. Left is the old version, right is the new. #vrchat#blender3d
@ArtSmith_1@CyanLaser SDK updates regularly break community tools and it is the creator's responsibility to maintain compatibility. Many of the updates CT got over the years has been because of this. You can't seriously expect VRC to never add new Udon features to not break some old unmaintained tool?
@CyanLaser And this specifically is the choice that screws over everyone who relied on your tool, not VRChat updating the SDK. No one expected you to support it forever, but deliberately dead-ending any projects that used it out of spite for the platform is very disappointing.
@Juzo_VR Yeah but you're explicitly disallowed from mentioning that a full package is available elsewhere. The result is going to be people buying the in-game version without realizing that they're getting the worse version
My Gaming Hot Take is that this should always be an option, and should be standard practice for any game getting major content updates. If you buy a game, you should always be able to access the version you payed for without being forced into automatic updates you cant turn off.
We're excited to deliver the newest Update 2.2 to you, and we hope you'll love it!
However, we also know that you love playing #Cyberpunk2077 with mods, which is why we decided to temporarily enable, until end of January, a Beta branch of the game on Steam, letting you revert to "2_13_old" while modders work on updating their content to the newest version of the game. You can also revert to older versions of the game on GOG.
Please keep in mind that only the latest version of the game is fully supported as it contains all the latest improvements, fixes and changes. If you encountered any issues on an older version of the game, make sure to update it first.
@Silent0264 I'm hoping to see customizable home worlds. Things like being able to set a default video for the player, saved customization settings, maybe even use image loading to let players change the posters and pictures in the world and remember it...
It's crazy to me how many non-Americans I've seen today pulling the whole 'smugly eating popcorn while watching the election' bit as if we aren't all downstream from the politics of the most powerful fucking country in the world.
@haven414@TeridaxDev AI that makes its own game would be completely different tech from AI that recreates Minecraft. The technology in this demo, even in its hypothetical most polished state, would just be a Minecraft clone.
@NinjaSteeve Sure, it's a limitation of the method that it has to be overcast to look this real, but literally every game thats made huge advancements in realism has had to cleverly play around limitations (baked lighting as an obvious example)
