@patio11 Would need to develop some cryptography and hardware and fast internet connections at charge spots, but that would make many photographers and other creatives very, very happy
@patio11 Just wondering if that could be expanded to offer uploading data to cloud as well. It’s rare for me to runout of power but it I’d gladly pay to be able to save the some backups to a power bank/storage unit from which they would be uploaded to my dropbox or whatever
@jeffbarr Finally!
... except that it's still limited for all the users I tried so "available now" seems a bit premature. And no, not using GovCloud or China regions.
@AlexTheFrontend@Raspberry_Pi Is that really a brand new pi 4 or just old stock or second-hand? I haven’t seen a new one in the wild for ages, never mind being able to buy one.
@GergelyOrosz Some companies also want to have ridiculous clauses regarding IPR, basically claiming that while you're employed all rights for everything will belong to the employer.
Including things you do outside of work and totally unrelated to the job.
@GergelyOrosz On the other hand, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB are excellent in this regard.
And for the record, I'm totally fine with VMs being priced per hour. That's the way it should be when you tie up resources.
@GergelyOrosz Load balancers are the classic example. First request through one costs usually something in the ballpark of $15/mo, so for things with little or no revenue you never want to use one.
Windows 11's widgets can now trigger notifications on your taskbar. Microsoft is starting to rollout alerts for weather, stocks, and more on the taskbar widget. You can't seem to disable the alerts, so they might get a little distracting. Details here: https://t.co/7tawLV6eU1
@GergelyOrosz Too bad ACM just ended their partnership with O'Reilly which was the go-to solution of getting that at a discount. O'Reilly's regular price is just a bit too painful to justify...
@GergelyOrosz This is exactly why I got access to most of the interesting non-indie tech books through O'Reilly's platform, because getting a printed book just isn't worth the trouble of dealing with Amazon
@levelsio Is this a complaint or a compliment?!
Joking aside, that’s not too bad unless the place smells of mold. If you don’t know what I mean just go to UK and try budget accommodations..
@BrentO That’s very nice!
And you’re totally right leaving lifts to amateurs, what you need is a big warehouse to go all in with the Jay Leno lifestyle 😂
@simonw Well, I really like Reeder for reading the stuff. For aggregating the feeds I have used Feed Wrangler, which is now shutting down.
If only the interface between the reader and aggregator was standardised and open, then building anything new or custom wouldn't be such a pain.
@opinionatedpie Not really.
But if you're curious about it, there's no other way to experience driving a manual except ... driving a manual. If you find the idea intriguing, isn't that enough even if it doesn't make sense? 😀
(Also if you find classic cars appealing, that could be a reason)
