Do you know why they are called teletubbies?
It's because they have television on their tummies 🤣
It took me 33 years and a kid to realize this. Emphasize on the kid.
We have to squeeze in chores and exercise in between work and traffic. You wake up at 6, leave home at 630, reach office at 730, have breakfast (thank goodness my office is not strict with punching in, if not, you have to wake up earlier to eat!), then you work till 5.30pm.
Commute home for an hour, or more depending on the weather. You reach home at 630pm, you have to decide between: making dinner, laundry, folding laundry, playing with your kid for the next hour before 730pm, solat and decide between exercising or putting your child to sleep then
WFH is nice because I get to replace being in traffic with laundry (washing and folding, siap boleh simpan lagi). And still log on at 8am. Just imagine the amount of things people can do if the traffic is not bad.
The word is everyday.
Then by 40, your cholesterol will be high. And you'll be surprised and say eh tapi tak minum pun banyak gula. But you didn't realize that you have been doing it everyday. Just ONE cup everyday.
I am starting to relate to my parents and the other adults -- emotionally drained from work. I realized this is how people slowly get high blood pressure. The stress is not direct, it's indirect. It creeps in, in the form of repetitive stress, slow low level stresses everyday.
What is worse is that your body slowly tries to compensate for this low level stress through eating, caffeine, and sugar. One cup a day, everyday, to keep you a little awake. You're not stressed that you can't function, you just need a little boost. A little boost everyday.
