Mobile #Addiction #child #Health

22 things I’ve learned writing 75 coding challenges, that have made me a better software developer.
1. You can build some amazing software in around than 8 hours of focused time.
2. Breaking projects down into steps is a skill that drastically improves with practice.
3. Clear acceptance criteria is important and hard.
4. Man pages are incredibly good and often underutilised by software engineers.
5. Some key projects started off tiny! The originally HTTP specification was just a page.
6. And it had no version number, but was later versioned 0.9, so it could be distinguished from 1.0.
7. Redis also started off tiny. It was originally just over 300 lines of TCL.
8. People love building real projects - I am not uniq!
9. People don’t get my humour - comment below if you do!

11. How to solve several of the challenges in Rust.
12. How to solve several of the challenges in Go.
13. The terminal has a raw and a cooked mode.
14. How DNS works right down to the UDP packets.
15. Rust doesn’t support parameterised tests - my first disappointment with Rust.
16. I’ve learned several new algorithms, i.e Meyers for longest common subsequence.
17. There are far more algorithms than I imagined.
18. A lot of software developers don’t know how to write binary files.
19. A lot of software developers still struggle with internationalisation and unicode formats in text files.
20. I’m one of them.
21. Docusaurus is an amazing tool for building documentation websites, it powers the Coding Challenge website.
22. I like programming in Go!
