I always have this weird feeling that whenever I stop during a race, I’ll end up stopping again. Sadly, some people here with much running experience think you should just stop racing and call it a bad day since you’re not getting prize money either way.
@BruceOnduru@IsaacMbugua97 It’s interesting how, for some people, it’s either a fun jog or you’re an athlete. What they don’t understand is that some of us have careers n still choose to work on our athletic sides. It’s never about money always. If it were so, there are plenty of other easier things to do.
@wanjohibriangeo@StanChartKE You don’t have to run fast to understand some of these things. You can even read about them. Runners train for months just to shave seconds off their pace, and then a gut issue threatens to ruin a race. You keep going. The other issues can be sorted out later.
Mocking a runner for shitting on themselves!? You’ve never run seriously. George Kusche finished Comrades covered in shit. Mansa is brave for speaking about running’s ugly realities. Running isn’t easy. StanChart should use qualifying times to weed out these jokers.
@nyabinghidread Mimi, if I’ve covered half the race at goal pace or better and still feel strong, then shit comes my way, I care less about what you think.
@youloveleona I understand your argument. Nobody trains to shit themselves, but it happens. I respect your knowledge, and I’d love to see you apply it to improve your times. Maybe then you’d better understand what I’m talking about.
@youloveleona Sorry, dear, but you know little about running. Even 5 seconds matters to runners. Google George Kusche, who won Comrades in South Africa. He shit himself at the finish line. Is he not an elite? And how many elites have you actually asked about gut issues during runs?
@BruceOnduru Sorry, bud. SCM’s restrictions messed up my plans, and by 8:50, I left feeling so awful since I couldn’t cheer you on or see you finish. I kept checking your Strava, anxious something had gone wrong. Congratulations, bud! I’m super proud of you. Someday, I’ll make it up to you.
