@TheCafeBeret "don't feel this way about someone else outside of your minority group trying to speak about your experiences! that's not what they wanted!" isn't helpful to anyone and neither is implying that i didn't read through the thread before replying.
okay but you do realize you are describing insecurity and not gender dysphoria lol
idk i feel like you could have googled the word "dysphoria" before making this lame-ass tweet
@TheCafeBeret but seriously dude how would you feel if i came onto something like this and told you "actually that wasn't meant to belittle you" as though that was going to somehow change the fact
there are other ways to get cis people to understand trans issues without equating these things
we wouldn't have a term for "misdiagnosis" if it wasn't for the fact that it can and often does happen
many of us need it on paper for accommodations and healthcare access; many of those who need it on paper *still* cannot access that support
america sucks shit, yall. chill.
the #ActuallyAutistic tag began as a sort of battle cry for late diagnosed folks who had been misdiagnosed or looking for answers
but i worry sometimes that some people may use it as anti-self-dx which is uncomfy (no one i follow, and no one who follows me, to calorie)
do i think it's important for autistic folks to have a professional who is familiar with the disorder and the relevant traumas? yes!
do i think diagnosis is easy, affordable, or regulated in any real way? no!
do i think psychiatrists inherently know more than us? no!
@R3n4lbar in my personal experience, all it'll take is one person who *doesnt* do and say shit like this for them to realize they can be friends with someone who actually likes them
im willing to bet the friend is just more conscious about the nail biting around her now
clumsiness? what the fuck do you expect someone to do about that? do you think people are clumsy because they don't know they are?? like what does this mean
maybe don't do this to people if you're not a parent in charge of teaching them not to pick their nose in public
if something i'm doing isn't directly harming you please don't tell me it's annoying lol
a lot of these things are either necessary for self-regulation in autistic people or just. peoples personalities
id literally rather you just stop hanging out with me if you think that way!
i talk loud and can't regulate that even though it was a pretty major part of the behavioral therapy i was put in 21 years ago as a child and it is still something that feels like a punch to the gut for people to point out even when they have the best intentions
@R3n4lbar how many long term friends do you think they have other than the nail-biter because i know i wouldn't keep someone like that around
sometimes it's literally not your business if your friends have dandruff ???
the actual annoying behavior is thinking this isn't a THEM problem
@R3n4lbar also every single thing they listed in the thread following are incredibly common stims
i would be so fucking hurt if someone told me that rubbing my hands or grinding my palms was annoying to them
