Completely understand the noise of us missing out on Monga. But I don’t know why. But im completely 100% behind the team. Probably got better deals incoming.

Benjamin Mendy – Manchester City
Manchester City immediately suspended him after police charged him with four counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
Mason Greenwood – Manchester United
United suspended him right after his arrest on suspicion of attempted rape and related charges.
Thomas Partey – Arsenal
Police began their inquiry in February 2022; first arrest in July 2022 (not publicly named), but he remained eligible and continued playing for Arsenal.
In Mendy & Greenwood’s cases:
Both were arrested & charged publicly, and their names were in the press almost immediately after police action.
In Partey’s case:
The police investigation began privately (Feb 2022) and even after his arrest in July 2022, the police did not release his name, citing legal/privacy reasons.
Without public confirmation and without charges at that point, suspending him could have risked defaming the player if it later turned out he was innocent, especially if no one outside the club even knew who was being investigated.
If Arsenal had suspended him publicly in 2022, they would essentially have confirmed publicly who the police were investigating, something even the authorities were careful not to do.
Comparing it directly with City & United is a bit unfair because the circumstances were materially different.
The situations with Mendy & Greenwood aren’t identical to Partey’s - their names & charges were public immediately, forcing their clubs to act. In Partey’s case, the inquiry wasn’t public and he hadn’t been charged.
