Αν πάει στραβά, έχω τρία γλυκύτατα γατιά. Μπορείτε να τα πάρετε να τα φροντίσετε μην έχουμε την ίδια τύχη;
1. Capitalism has done something very clever to warfare for America. It has removed the American human and by extension the European human’s proximity to death.
2. War used to mean your sons drafted, your cities rationed, your factories converted, your streets filled with absence. It demanded a shared national discomfort. You felt it in your body, in your home, in your daily choices.
3. Now it is a quick decision between Marco, Bibi and the Donald. It’s all a video game. It is a drone operated from a chair thousands of miles away.
4. For Americans, war now arrives as footage. A night-vision clip. No amputees at the bus stop. The violence isnt because it’s virtual. The distance turns a great deal of human suffering into iranian dancing on the street videos.
5. This distance produces a particular kind of moral insulation. War is watched more than it is lived. It is narrated through the language of precision, deterrence and stability, and visually through grainy aerial clips and digital maps. The operator sits in a climate controlled room, the voter drives home from work, the markets close for the day.
6. Nothing in the physical environment suggests that a society is in the middle of organised killing. The experience resembles a video game and this makes the violence is fictional, remote and consequence free for those authorising it.
7. But the human cost has not disappeared. It has moved, with remarkable consistency, to the Global South. There, war is not a broadcast.
8. People die in thousands over night. Innocent people. But people, babies and young girls don’t die as humans. They die as statistics or as technical langauge. Eg. collateral damage, civilian casualties etc.
9. The task of war for the American is to first takeway their humanity. No information that creates sympathy. Rather feel good messaging. We liberated Iran, we liberated Iraq; we liberated Libya and Afghanistan.
10. We do it because we as Americans are inherently good. We do it for humanity.
1. War is a video game for the West. A holocaust for the global poor. But who counts black and brown deaths?
End the killings!
Shalom.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, after bringing medals to Greece after 16 years–
"I felt for a day and a half like my legacy was on the line. And I love that feeling, because I’ve always found a way to respond."
"When my parents did not have money, I found a way to help them sell stuff on the street. When my parents were sick, I took the bag and went by myself. When I went to the States, I found a way to bring my brothers and my parents. After that, I gave my brothers a better education."
"So always in my life, I find ways to respond. And I love when I’m down, and when people doubt me. And people were doubting me. And today we won the medal, and I’m very happy."

The only people worth listening to about political violence are people who understand that genocide and forced births and cops murdering people and mass kidnappings by the state are all political violence.
saw the charlie kirk video and slowly realized how it's basically the first video i've seen in two years on my feed showcasing blood & gore that wasn't of a Palestinian.
🚨BREAKING :A video documents a horrific Israeli crime: targeting ambulance and civil defense crews as they were rescuing victims and the wounded after Israel bombed Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis among them was journalist Hossam al-Masri.
“When I entered Gaza the Israeli military had a rule: I was only allowed to bring in three kilos of food. As I was weighing out protein bars, trying to get under the limit, I said to my husband: ‘How sinister is this?’ I’m a humanitarian aid worker. Why would there even be a limit on food? I’ve worked in many places with extreme hunger, but what’s so jarring in this context is how cruel it is, how deliberate. I was in Gaza for two months; there’s no way to describe the horror of what’s happening. And I say this as a pediatric ICU doctor who sees children die as part of my work. Among our own staff we have doctors and nurses who are trying to treat patients while hungry, exhausted. They’re living in tents. Some of them have lost fifteen, twenty members of their families. In the hospital there are kids maimed by airstrikes: missing arms, missing legs, third degree burns. Often there’s not enough pain medication. But the children are not screaming about the pain, they’re screaming: ‘I’m hungry! I’m hungry!” I hate to only focus on the kids, because nobody should be starving. But the kids, it just haunts you in a different way. When my two months were finished, I didn’t want to leave. It’s a feeling I haven’t experienced in nearly twenty years of humanitarian assignments. But I felt ashamed. Ashamed to leave my Palestinian colleagues, who were some of the most beautiful and compassionate people that I’ve ever met. I was ashamed as an American, as a human being, that we’ve been unable to stop something that is so clearly a genocide. I remember when our bus pulled out of the buffer zone. Out the window on one side I could see Rafah, which was nothing but rubble. On the other side was lush, green Israel. When we exited the gate, the first thing I saw was a group of Israeli soldiers, sitting at a table, eating lunch. I’ve never felt so nauseous seeing a table full of food.”

Aqsa Durrani is a pediatric doctor and board member of Doctors Without Borders USA, with nearly twenty years of experience in humanitarian projects. During our interview Aqsa repeatedly expressed a desire to center the voices of her Palestinian colleagues. To this end I’ve spent the past week collecting stories from the Palestinian staff of Doctors Without Borders in Gaza. I will be sharing these stories over the next several days. I’m so grateful for the time that these people gave me; they were sleepless, hungry, traumatized, and often working 24-hour shifts. Because of the unreliable internet connection their images are sometimes grainy. Their words, however, will be crystal clear.
85% of Gaza’s population have entered the "fifth stage" of malnutrition — the most critical and dangerous phase, which is often irreversible even if food becomes available in the future.
Συνηθίσαμε να μας πηδάνε και το θεωρούμε νορμάλ πια; Στοκχόλμη;
Please don't act surprised that kids are using AI in college. Most are only there to get a degree in the hopes that they won't be forced to work for minimum wage for their entire life. Capitalism has turned higher education into a means to an end.
This is Hossam’s team, and we are sharing his final message :
“If you’re reading this, it means I have been killed—most likely targeted—by the Israeli occupation forces. When this all began, I was only 21 years old—a college student with dreams like anyone else. For past 18 months, I have dedicated every moment of my life to my people. I documented the horrors in northern Gaza minute by minute, determined to show the world the truth they tried to bury. I slept on pavements, in schools, in tents—anywhere I could. Each day was a battle for survival. I endured hunger for months, yet I never left my people’s side.
By God, I fulfilled my duty as a journalist. I risked everything to report the truth, and now, I am finally at rest—something I haven’t known in the past 18 months . I did all this because I believe in the Palestinian cause. I believe this land is ours, and it has been the highest honor of my life to die defending it and serving its people.
I ask you now: do not stop speaking about Gaza. Do not let the world look away. Keep fighting, keep telling our stories—until Palestine is free.”
— For the last time, Hossam Shabat, from northern Gaza.
