Here in the west we often hear tales of Japanese games that were never released in English getting patched by fans so that it can be experienced in a new region of the world. You don't often hear about the inverse, but that's exactly what's happening to Morrowind right now
I was accosted by some Mormons just now, asking if I'd like to hear about Christ, I look at them and declared I'M HAPPY WITH MY CURRENT METAPHYSICAL SERVICE PROVIDER, THANK YOU and got in my car
as I pulled away I'm pretty sure I saw one of them laughing
Baby slept 12 hours tonight, a lot for her. I joked "I wonder what superpowers she's going to wake up with"
Then she sits up, says a perfectly enunciated "mama" and does the baby-sign for milk
Kind of funny how many boomers have money lying around that they won’t share with their broke kids or grandkids, but will mail in a shoebox to a random guy who claims to be the President of Bitcoin
You don't fully get how Much smarter crows are vs other smart animals
Pigs are famously smart, way smarter than dogs/cats, yet a wild hog is totally unable to understand the concept of another species helping it
A crow meanwhile can even barter with humans shiny things for food
Self-aware autistic people can spend years assuming it’s completely normal to immediately explain the reasoning behind everything they say or do. Then someone hits you with, “You always have an answer, don’t you?”
And you’re just standing there like… I thought I was communicating clearly. 😭
Working with newlyweds is a fun experience.
I once had a young couple where the major point of conflict was that he would say something to her, and she would just sit in silence. Sometimes she's stare at him like he had a third eye.
He would say it again and she would again be silent. This would often evolve into massive fights where he was enraged, and she was upset. Or he'd sullenly withdraw, feeling hurt and not understanding why she was being so damn difficult, and she'd present like she didn't understand why.
At first I worried that she was stonewalling, where a partner doesn't engage as a control tactic. That opened the door to potential cluster B concerns, but one can never be too fast to label.
Then once while working with me, he said something and she didn't respond, and I told her that it would be best if she responded.
She blurted out frustrated, "Why do I have to respond to what he says??!"
It took me a beat because I thought she was acting stupid and stubborn. But I told her: When somebody responds to you, it's basic rule of human relational etiquette to respond to them.
It was like 22 years of awkward frustration flashed before her eyes and she said, "Oh! Okay... I never thought of it like that!"
And she responded to him. From then on she'd sometimes hesitate, but then say "Oh, yeah! I'm supposed to respond!" and then respond.
She even did it to people in her social and work life, and it made everything go so smoothly. She's was suddenly cooking with oil.
Turns out she had grown up in a very weird home and was a very weird girl. I told her it was not within my scope, but maybe she should go get assessed for autism. Babygirl was flame broiling Asperger's, if I'm right.
I told the husband that he must wield patience because he chose a girl who is harmless but derpy.
Not all miscommunication is malicious. Sometimes people are derpy and we love them with it.
ACME gone from being portrayed as a cartoonishly evil corporation that isn’t meant to be taken seriously to an full on accurate depiction of real life companies is truly the funniest character development I’ve seen.
