This image tells a story that many tried to dismiss as impossible.
Under President Yameen's leadership, Hulhumalé Phase II was transformed from a vast stretch of reclaimed lagoon into a planned urban expansion within a remarkably short period. The reclamation of over 240 hectares of land created space for thousands of Maldivian families, businesses, schools, parks and future economic opportunities.
Most significantly, the Hiya housing project delivered thousands of apartments, giving ordinary citizens a realistic pathway to home ownership and affordable housing. For many families, it meant moving from overcrowded conditions to modern homes with proper infrastructure and services.
The impact was not only social but economic:
✅ Thousands of jobs created during reclamation and construction
✅ Increased housing supply helping ease pressure on Malé
✅ Expansion of commercial activity and investment opportunities
✅ Improved living standards for thousands of families
✅ Creation of a new urban centre supporting long-term national development
Projects of this scale usually take decades from planning to delivery. President Yameen reclaimed the land, built the infrastructure, and delivered the largest housing project in Maldivian history within a single administration.
Today, thousands benefit every day from Hulhumalé Phase II and Hiya. It stands as a lasting example of visionary leadership, decisive execution, and nation-building that continues to shape the future of the Maldives. #Maldives #Hulhumale #Hiya #Development #YameenLegacy @prz_ymn
O Allah,
Shatter the oppressors, restrain them, and make of them a warning to those who seek to follow their ways.
Protect the innocent wherever they are. Shield the vulnerable from every harm. Bring swift justice to those who spread it throughout the earth.
Our Lord, the corruption has been laid bare for all to see. Now let us see the corrupt stripped of their power in every way, and do not let us be counted among them in any way.
Ameen
Finally mainstream media is catching up on this - good
This isn’t a minor issue.
These delays will directly hit supply chains and drive up the cost of everyday goods people depend on.

In some tourist destinations, discounts are offered through airport facilities during low seasons. However, in the Maldives, significant discounts are typically provided only by private tourist facilities. But why is that? Only if we work together should we consider offering similar incentives too.
We often boast about the engineering capabilities in the Maldives—but when it comes to real development, we fall short. Instead of investing in training, infrastructure, and upskilling our people, we tend to block opportunities that could elevate us. It’s time to open our eyes and face the reality.
Just this week, a real-challenge unfolded: the replacement of both engines on an aircraft belonging to a locally based international airline. A dedicated team of highly experienced SriLankan engineers spent five days at Velana International Airport carrying out this complex operation with precision and professionalism. This wasn’t a one-man job it was a coordinated effort by experts who brought real-world experience to the table.
This should be a wake-up call. We can rise to the occasion if we work alongside those who have the expertise. Let’s stop being defensive and start being proactive. We need to build up not just boast.
I urge everyone to step up and provide more support. We have successfully transported 20 tons of cargo to Male via Maldivian Airlines across two destinations, and our volume continues to grow with each flight. Now, we are preparing to add another 12 tons from a third destination, which will also mark the inaugural flight from Shanghai. While discussions about the future are common, it is crucial for our tourism industry to unite and collaborate in building a stronger, more expansive network. @MaldivianAero@MACLmedia@MoTCAmv@ameen3d@lasiaF969
