To all of my cheerful followers and conservative commentators whose toes I’ve stepped on, thank you for explaining censorship to me like I’m 3.

I see the attempts to help with your wisdom, ad hom, and anonymous rage, and it warms my soul.

Unfortunately, I’m the last person who needs an explanation about censorship in this country.

It’s a principle reason I started my campaign in the first place. I’d had enough of the various efforts to cancel people for speaking truth, and I decided to do something about it.

My entire campaign launched amid censorship. The first billboard I put up lasted one day. It was condemned as hate speech by Vancouver politician @sarahkirby_yung for saying “I ❤️ JK Rowling.”

She pressured Jimmy Pattison’s sign company to take it down, and they did, which is their right. They’re allowed to have no spine and cut ties.

Some of you will say they took away my freedom of expression. No they didn’t. A trans activist politician abused her power, and a sign was taken down. That’s all.

Abuses of power exist in all spheres of life. These abuses are separate from your rights, and they need to be fought.

In all eras of the past and for all time going forward, there were and there will be attempts to silence us. Until the law changes, which it hasn’t, we’re free to speak.

It’s not going to be easy for everyone. A utopian state of freedom of expression without consequence has never and will never exist, because we live in an imperfect world full of imperfect and bad people.

I know many who have had an employer or organization give them trouble for their speech. Guess what? They’re still out here speaking.

Some of them have legal cases. It’s awful that people have to go that route, but that’s life. Life’s not fair. Life is a fight, sometimes. You can lament the injustice of it all, or you can soldier on.

Several people have run into trouble because of their association with me, or because they stood with me on a sidewalk for a few hours.

If someone gets wrongfully dismissed from a job for unrelated speech outside of work, they have a wrongful dismissal case. It doesn’t mean their tongue has been cut out.

This discussion has come up because of an overwhelming amount of fake news and speculation over Bill C-11, which literally has our guarantee of freedom of expression built into the bill. Almost nobody knows that, because nobody bothered to read it.

The bill has nothing to do with registering individual podcasts, or censoring individual user content.

We’re allowed to speak our minds, and though some may try to stop us, nobody has taken that right away.

Canadians, you may speak.

@biologycounts No, I don’t. I don’t think k the majority of us with daughters and even without, want this. It needs to stop and I’m pleased to say I think us rational folk are actually winning, despite those in so called authority, making it hard for us with their pandering.
