Twitter can't die yet. I'm not even up to 2015 in my project to go back to every single reply I have ever sent someone and asking them if they've had time to think about what I said yet.

I just think its DISGUSTING the way we are selling out traditional british culture and bending over backwards for them
@Worldcuptour@EllieCumbo I'm old enough to remember the brief period when this was primarily a debate *within* feminism rather than a front in the wider culture wars.
But being civil really does *not* come naturally to me so thanks for the positive feedback.
@Worldcuptour@EllieCumbo (Once again, I'm not expecting to change any minds here, just trying to persuade you that people of the opposing view deserve to be treated with a bit more respect)
@Worldcuptour@EllieCumbo response obviously wasn't to just ditch my views, but to interrogate them far more harshly, try to see from the other side, make an effort to listen to people I disagreed with etc etc.
If that's tribalism then it's a very unusual type.
@Worldcuptour@EllieCumbo 2014 is an example of me *not* doing that thing, since I campaigned for and voted for 'no', unlike a majority of my friends and family.
I mention it because I know how much it worried me that I was on the same side as the tories, and opposed to so many of my friends.

@Worldcuptour@EllieCumbo Okay, sure, that's *why* it doesn't happen. But as long as we agree *that* it doesn't happen, then you can see why the statement 'sex is assigned at birth' is at least, defensible, even if you disagree with the conclusions we might extrapolate. Right?
@EllieCumbo And, even if it was fifty-fifty, that would still be more than enough for the charge that john oliver must 'not be listening to women' to be questionable.
@EllieCumbo > right, and more of a basis for women than men, then it's not surprising to find the sort of gender and r/l skews we see on these issues.
@Worldcuptour@EllieCumbo What do you think is happening when a person with differences of sexual development gets 'm' or 'f' put on their birth certificate? What would you call that process?
