7-9th century Jewish writings from Israel! 📜

It is a page from "The Book of Deeds of the Sons of the Land of Israel" ('Sefer Hama'asim L'bnei Eretz Yisrael') which was discovered in the Cairo Geniza.

Written by Rabbis in Israel between the 7th and 9th centuries CE, it is a summary of customs of Jews in Israel during the time before the Muslim conquest.

Parts of the book were mentioned in other writings of rabbis at the time such as Rav Hai Gaon.

President Trump announces a “National Shabbat,” which will be called “Shabbat 250.”

It’s part of Jewish American Heritage Month, America’s 250th birthday celebrations, and the first time in American history that a president has introduced a National Shabbat.

Two teens were arrested for allegedly plotting a mass-casualty attack on Congregation Beth Israel in Houston, Texas.

18-year-old Angelina Han Hicks and a 16-year-old juvenile planned to drive a vehicle through the synagogue and its school with the intent to take the lives of "as many Jews as possible."

Hicks was apprehended in North Carolina on a $10 million bond, while the juvenile was detained in Texas on charges of conspiracy to commit capital m*rder.

The plot, which was uncovered following a tip to law enforcement, briefly forced the synagogue to close its doors before reopening under heightened security.
