After more than 2 years of efforts, upgrades, fixes, discoveries by many many talented people in the team,
SUPERNOVA IS NOW DELIVERED AND LIVE!
Enormous step forward for the ecosystem today.
Capital at machine speed.
In 2017, we set out to build an internet-scale blockchain: infrastructure capable of serving a global economy, with security and decentralization built into its foundations.
Today, Supernova goes live on MultiversX, delivering the most significant architectural advance since our first mainnet block in July 2020.
Six years of engineering connect those moments. Native sharding. Stronger account protection. Broader validator participation. Governance placed in the hands of the community. Each advance carried forward the same conviction: a network becomes more valuable when more people can use it, build on it, and help determine its future.
Supernova brings 600-millisecond blocks to that network while keeping validator hardware requirements unchanged. Independent operators can continue securing it on the machines they already run. Existing accounts, contracts, and the history stretching back to genesis remain intact.
That combination matters. Internet scale means building the capacity to serve the world while preserving the ability to participate.
The purpose reaches far beyond the protocol. People should be able to hold their own money and move it across borders. Businesses should have access to global markets. Developers should be free to create financial services on infrastructure that is open, programmable, and always available.
Years of research, public testing, and collective effort have brought us to this moment. The next chapter is turning these capabilities into products people rely on in everyday life.
To the engineers, validators, builders, and community who brought us here: thank you.
The promise that started MultiversX continues to guide us: a financial system whose capabilities grow, and whose doors remain open.
Let’s write history together.
Leave one line for the next chapter of MultiversX.
Onchain forever and sealed into the first block of Supernova.

25,000 NFC wristbands. 40,000+ on-chain transactions. 48 relayers. 4 days. One festival.
Thousands of people used NFC wristbands.
They tapped. Paid. Topped up. Accessed the festival.
40,000+ transactions were executed on @MultiversX and users didn't need to care.
That's the point. The technology shouldn't be the experience.
It should power the experience. This is what VeroPay was built for: bringing complex event infrastructure into one frictionless experience.
At Guitar Meeting Festival 2026, we deployed VeroPay as the event's full NFC infrastructure.
External ticket codes were validated and mapped to NFC wristbands, with dedicated onboarding flows for guitarists, artists, staff, volunteers, collaborators and other event categories.
The deployment included 4 top-up points, self-top-up kiosks and direct phone-to-wristband top-ups, with native Apple Pay & Google Pay via @xMoney_com , as well as 4 on-site ticket sales stations powered by our newest module, FastSell.

"I am in this small-ish white room. Alert. Patient. Curious. Been looking forward to this conversation. One by one, a few guys enter and take a seat. A few chairs have been pulled together. Nothing remarkable about the room itself, nothing formal. Just an older building. A plain office room. With a desk or two. There’s something in the people's eyes. A spark. Curiosity maybe. A little anxiety too, from what I can tell. The kind that comes when you know you’re about to step into untried waters. Maybe you have a sense you’re about to be tested, but you’re not entirely sure how. Now everyone is here. Over the previous days, I’ve taken some of the hardest and, to me, most fascinating problems in computer science, broken them down, and given one to each of them as a personal challenge.
The problems matter. As strange as it may sound, I want a new and better solution for each of the problems. I want that solution in an impossible amount of time. But today the problems are only partly the point. The challenge is a filter. If you look at one of these problems and feel daunted by it, if your first instinct is to retreat from its size or complexity, there probably isn’t much I can do to help you. But if you look at the same problem and its difficulty pulls you closer; if it begins to feel less like a wall and more like a puzzle; if, after staring at it long enough, you start to sense a dim, intuitive path toward a solution that comes to you before you can even explain it, then we have something. Then we can really play. I look around the room and take the moment in. I smile. And, for a split second, wonder what may come of it."

You can send a transaction without holding any EGLD. The account paying the fee is a field on the transaction, and it does not have to be you.

Supernova features in @Cointelegraph today.
Good writeup about how we decouple consensus from execution to achieve finality below 250ms and 600ms blocks on a fully sharded network.
