For 12 years, a South African company called Optasia quietly controlled Nigeria’s entire airtime and data borrowing market, collecting over ₦3 trillion every year.
No Nigerian staff. No local office. The money just left the country.
This week, President Tinubu approved nine Nigerian companies to break that monopoly.
The jobs stay. The taxes stay. The profit stays in Nigeria.
Now Nigerians are taking their market back.

A coordinated security operation involving the Nigerian Military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Kogi State Vigilante Service, and local hunters has successfully foiled a t£rr0r!st attack in Ikoyi Community, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, when armed b@nd!ts reportedly invaded a gathering in the community with the intention of abducting residents and causing widespread panic.
A detailed analysis of their digital footprints uncovered a structured surveillance operation, including photographs of the victim’s vehicles, school environment, daily routines, and lifestyle patterns, all used to profile and track the family prior to the attack.
With these combined intelligence assets, operatives were able to positively identify the suspects’ hideout located at Lado community Ayegun Ibadan.
On 6th June, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives of the FID-IRT, supported by other tactical teams of the Oyo State Police Command, stormed the identified hideout in a well-coordinated tactical operation aimed at rescuing the victims alive. However, upon sighting the advancing operatives, one of the gang members identified as "Kelechi," who had travelled from Lagos State and was positioned as a lookout, engaged the operatives in a gun duel. The operatives responded with superior tactical precision, resulting in the neutralization of Kelechi and another unidentified member of the gang.
Following the successful clearance of the hideout, the kidnapped victims—Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo and her twin sons, Peter and Paul—were rescued unhurt and immediately placed in protective custody before being reunited with their family.
In continuation of mop-up and follow-up operations, the two principal suspects, Wale Abolalewa alias "Oloro" and Dare Oyedele alias "Solution," were taken into custody and are currently assisting investigators with critical information aimed at apprehending other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Additionally, two other suspects identified as agents responsible for contracting and facilitating the use of the said criminal hideout were also arrested. They are Semiu Ishola, aged 39 years, and Adeyemi Ayobami, aged 35 years, and are currently in police custody assisting ongoing investigation.

Troops Rescue All 360 Women, Children Abducted by Boko Haram in Gwoza Operations
By: Zagazola Makama
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in conjunction with Special Operations Forces, have rescued 360 civilians, mainly women and children, abducted by terrorists from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Military sources said the rescue followed a coordinated special operation conducted on June 6 across multiple fronts around the Mandara Mountains.
According to the sources, Special Operations Forces initially carried out preliminary missions that created confusion within terrorist camps, paving the way for ground troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade to successfully extract the captives.
The rescued civilians were among residents abducted during a terrorist attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026.
However, the operation recorded a tragic setback as two infants died during the rescue effort due to the harsh and difficult terrain encountered while moving the victims to safety.
The military said all rescued persons underwent immediate medical screening upon arrival, while those requiring urgent medical attention were stabilised by brigade medical personnel and admitted to the General Hospital in Gwoza for treatment.
The victims were also provided with food and water before being moved to a secure holding facility pending their handover to relevant authorities and reunification with their families.
Security sources described the operation as a significant humanitarian and operational success in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and rescue civilians held captive in remote areas of the North-East.
They added that the general security situation in the area remained calm but unpredictable, while troops’ morale and operational effectiveness remained high.
