— One of the biggest misconceptions about BTS is that they're only for "K-pop fans."
For years, the "K-pop" label became the first thing many people saw, often before they even heard the music. Whether intentionally or not, it created a barrier for listeners who might have otherwise connected with their artistry.
But BTS have never made music for a niche audience. They've always made music for people who love music.
Their discography spans hip-hop, alternative, R&B, rock, pop, jazz, traditional Korean influences, electronic music, and MORE.
Their albums are built around cohesive concepts. Their lyrics explore identity, youth, grief, ambition, love, and social issues. Their production is detailed, their performances are theatrical, and their visual storytelling is carefully crafted.
That's why it's no surprise that ARIRANG is attracting listeners who don't typically follow K-pop. They're discovering what many fans have known for years: BTS aren't compelling because of a label, they're compelling because of the quality of their art.
— That's what happens when artistry speaks louder than labels.
I think we need to focus on 9% of the Armys, cause it's truly huge. Even A lot of big artists merely have 2% of them. Social media engagement doesn't converts into fans, and that shows in the sales of the tour and albums. The way bts can create affinity among people is crazy.
