Boise State head coach: "I talk about three things, love Jesus, work hard, treat people right... My relationship with Jesus is the only way I can be everything I need to be for this team."
This is what it looks like to be unashamed!!
All of the billboards in Times Square were shut off and then lit up with the true meaning of Christmas:
The birth of Jesus Christ
The mainstream media censored this! Let's make it go VIRAL!
Today, I joined Rockwall’s municipal and county leaders in sending a letter to Rep-Elect @KatrinaPierson. We stand united to keep special districts fair for our citizens and urge her to prefile a new version of HB 1916, which I passed in 88(R). #TXLEGE#MUDs
// Christians & Voting //
If Christians won't lead, Satan will be happy to.
God established 3 institutions in the Bible: family, church, and State. Whatever God creates, Satan tries to capture.
- Adam did not lead his family, so Satan did.
- In Revelation 2/3, passive pastors allowed their churches to tolerate sin instead of leading them to repent of sin. As a result, they become a "synagogue of Satan." The pastors did not lead the church, so Satan did.
- In a Constitutional Republic, the *voters* are the leaders of the nation, as elected leaders are "representatives of the people." In the same way a husband cannot abdicate his responsibility to lead his family, and a pastor cannot abdicate his responsibility to lead his church, Christian voters should not abdicate the spiritual leadership responsibility God has assigned them in a Constitutional Republic by not voting.
~40M Bible-believing Christians did not vote in the last Presidential election.
That election was decided by a strategically-placed 42,000 votes.
If godly people won't lead their nation by voting, godless people will.
Someone asked why I chose to endorse a candidate now when I have not in the past. It's probably best to start with why I usually don't endorse. I believe one's vote is a private matter in general. In addition, on City Council it could be a bit awkward to endorse one candidate, only to find yourself having to work as peers with the elected candidate you didn't pick.
With all of that being said, I have reached a point where I am frustrated with all the divisiveness in our country, in Texas, and in Rockwall County.
I'm frustrated watching big money PACs capitalize and amplify the same fear and outrage the media creates. Nothing raises money like fear and anger.
I'm frustrated and shocked that the community that raised @justinaholland, and for whom he has served and sacrificed, was so quick to turn on him for the shiny new object.
“The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally – not a 20 percent traitor.”
— Ronald Reagan
When I have an issue with someone, I go to him/her directly. I've had several conversations about policy with Justin and he explains his thinking. We don't always agree, but I at least understand his logic. I also trust he's standing by his values. That's more than good enough for me. I relate to having to balance conflicting interests as it's hard enough pleasing 52K Rockwall citizens, so I can't imagine how much more difficult it is for 190K in #HD33.
Justin Holland is a proven local leader, with a clear demonstrated track record of community service, and established relationships working with fellow Texans in Austin. We have seen some of the most conservative legislative sessions in our time. I value his proven ability to work across the aisle when it benefits Texas and HD33.
On the other hand, we have a candidate with zero track record serving on local boards, commissions, or elected offices in the district. A challenger who has zero track record working for HD33 in Austin. An opponent who refers to fellow Texans as if they're the enemy. Many of us have noticed that this candidate does not actually answer questions with any sort of clarity of understanding of the issues at hand, but rather chooses to flip questions back or use catch phrases.
We are all Texans. It's frustrating to observe these outside forces pit Texans against one another. Austin is NOT DC. Anyone who tries to make it sound like that is either highly misinformed or intentionally misleading. I'm not OK with either of those options.
So that's why I'm speaking up now.
