Hello Twitter! I’m developing a VR/non-VR game about bee breeding where players revive forgotten bee species and restore their populations! Today, I’ve launched the Steam page please wishlist the game and support with shares! Link below

HoBeey is a game about rebuilding a lost bee world.
My goal is to make the player feel like they’re reviving an ecosystem: breeding better bees, restoring old species.
Wishlist on Steam and follow me https://t.co/j8YnaTtqN0
For past 444 days, I’ve been building HoBeey every day.
- restore lost bee species
- rebuild your apiary from scratch
- learn genetics
- breed productive bees and sustain your honey production
- play in VR or without VR
It’s my bee-breeding sim. Would you play it?
I hope Epic does something about the performance in the editor. I just migrated 5.1->5.7, and the perf on my laptop with a Ryzen 9 8945H and RTX 4060 dropped from ~111 FPS to ~80. The CPU is used less efficiently, but perf better in fullscreen

@GameDevMicah@wccftech What about the performance in the editor? I'm migrating from 5.1 to 5.7 right now, and the performance has only gotten worse :/

This proves Unreal Engine itself was a massive factor in the amount of performance issues with UE5 games this year.
35% and 25% improvements are huge, clearly something was deeply wrong with UE5 as we’ve all suspected this past year.
Hope UE5 games perform better in 2026
Dev day 305. The end of the year is near so what’s there to do??? That’s right, attempt a project migration from Unreal 5.1 to 5.7 During the process, I discovered an epic fail where I had included a generated header in two different places.

Dev day 304. Today’s the day I decided to tweak the particle parameters a bit, reduce the amount of spaghetti, and fix a couple of issues. I think this is definitely where I can wrap them up and move on!

No idea how the project even built before that... And of course, something always tries to break during migration. In this case, particle animations stopped working, since the AnimToTexture plugin is experimental for a reason the material setup has been completely rearranged.
My function handling ALL edge cases between player inventory and building drag and drop interactions has reached its ULTIMATE FORM!
Waiting for me to do a cleanup?

Dev day 303. The hive particles finally started working properly! Now, when a new bee is born, the bee particles fly out of the hive.

Dev day 302. Today I implemented the logic for the bee particles to return to the hive when a bee of that type is taken out of it!

Dev day 301. Today I started plugging hive data into the particle system. Now the correct bees are being pulled from the save!

Today I remembered that my game is having a New Year event from December 14th until the end of January, and all the bees are wearing hats!!!
