Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee is fighting to avoid becoming the first elected governor in 12 years to lose renomination — and a bridge that's been partially shut for nearly three years is dragging him down.
McKee faces a primary rematch Wednesday against Helena Buonanno Foulkes, a former CVS executive who has outspent him nearly two-to-one. The Washington Bridge, which once carried 100,000 vehicles per day connecting Providence to East Providence, was closed in December 2023 after officials found critical structural flaws. The reopening was originally promised this year. It's now pushed to November 2028.
High electricity rates and a severe affordable housing shortage are compounding the problem, and McKee is staring down what could be a historic loss in a solidly blue state.
@khrisody@1jeffnelson@BillSimmons fines by the NBA against Ballmer for the Lexus side deal and then 2019 Governor meeting, per Mark Cuban, after uncle Dennis asked the Lakers and raptors for ownership. Episodes of @pablofindsout 14 part series explain. Get your head out of the sand.
Got myself a bday present and loved that I could offset the Carbon just like KL2, Ballmer and Wong do. Next up, shorting daktronic stock to pay for season tickets and jersey to our future USL soccer team’s grand opening in 2027. Thanks @PabloTorre and @DavidPSamson
