2 things can be true. One is that US soccer far from gets our best athletes, whether that be the astronomical prices of youth soccer and the terrible US system or the lack of professional popularity. 2nd truth is that these are some of the best American athletes.
Soccer is the hardest sport in the world to play. To put it in perspective you can take any active NBA/NFL player and they would not one who be able to get by me and score I haven’t touched a ball in 3 years. I’d put 100k on it.
It’s hilarious how bad a top NFL or NBA player looks tryna play soccer 😂
The US starting 11 are some of the best athletes the country has don’t fantasize about how good these other athletes would be at soccer prolly not that good.

Gillespie had a breakout year in a larger role with Phoenix, looking like a potentially ideal backup guard fit for the Sixers. 👍
@UP_Caine@popsbabyiv@nerdnecksteve@ZiggySmalls_ The point of data is to use it in the context in which it makes sense. If we were having a convo about an artist’s impact, the sales numbers would be an important part of that convo. Numbers matter, but contextually.
@UP_Caine@popsbabyiv@nerdnecksteve@ZiggySmalls_ The point is getting into the weeds with it. Tell me why you like vanilla ice, break down his bars, talk about his musicality, his beat selection etc etc. we might not agree but that’s a healthy convo.
@UP_Caine@popsbabyiv@nerdnecksteve@ZiggySmalls_ You aren’t arguing the fact here tho you are arguing about the nuances that lead to those facts. Or the possible lack of context of said data
@UP_Caine@popsbabyiv@nerdnecksteve@ZiggySmalls_ But here’s the thing, sports has objective metrics to measure someone’s skill. There is a point to playing a sport, to win a match. For art that “goal” is much more vague. Hence the subjective nature of it.
@UP_Caine@popsbabyiv@nerdnecksteve@ZiggySmalls_ Thing is tho, people will and have. If numbers are all that matters, then how do people have discussions about indie art? Or songs that are great, but no one knows about? If you want to add objective metrics to a discussion about subjective topic, frame your discussion that way.
@popsbabyiv@nerdnecksteve@ZiggySmalls_ lol I’m not trying to be different. I love all kinds of popular music. I just realize nobody’s opinion on art is necessarily trumping anyone else’s. If someone thinks MF Doom is their rap goat, who am I to say no simply because he ain’t sell that well?
