My midterm group just virtually met for two hours to work on our project. It was weird not to be in the same room as my lovely 350 peers, but it did not stop us from accomplishing what needed to be done! #ENG350
I love Toni Morrison! I definitely will be using her work as an example in my future classroom to discuss the importance of writing. Such an inspiration. #ENG350
Yes, Jalyn! Yesterday I was talking about I used to sit and stare at a book and periodically flip the pages. Students need to see good reading techniques being practiced rather than just be expected to already know HOW to read. #ENG350
Typically I vehemently oppose group projects, but my 350 peers are ROCKING it! I'm feeling grateful to learn alongside such fantastic individuals. ๐ #ENG350
If someone would have told high school Jianni that she would be so invested in rubrics, she would've laughed in your face. Yet alas, here I am, crying over creating a rubric with my English Ed peers. People CHANGE. #ENG350
Danah Hashem's article "More Than a Grade: Cultivating Intellectual Play in Students" really spoke to me - especially the section about valuing process along (or over๐) with the product. Not every student's journey looks the same, but each journey is valid! #ENG350
"Passion blogging is a low-stakes chance for students to analyze texts of their choosing before they move on to complex literary texts." Using different literacies/genres can help students learn in a different way! #ENG350 https://t.co/lTicj85A2c
Right off the bat, G & K make an excellent point about how more grading does not mean that learning is occurring (106). It's a shame that we live in such a grade-hungry world. Let teachers teach! #ENG350
I definitely feel you on this one. I always try to remind myself that I will not be a perfect teacher...and that's totally fine! I will struggle and things might not go according to plan, but it surely won't be because of a lack of passion/effort. #ENG350
I 100% agree. I get attached to my schedules once I make them. Hopefully, it will get easier as we go on and learn how to give our students what they need... without wigging out! ๐ #ENG350
"plan to change your plans" (G&K, 91)
I don't know about you guys, but this is one of the things that stresses me out the most when I think about teaching in the future. But at the same time, that's what makes it exciting #ENG350
I love to see educators take initiative on finding texts that inspire their students. Sometimes teachers teach the same text because it's tradition. If something is not working anymore, fix it. #ENG350
