The Gauteng Anti-Corruption Unit arrested five (5) police Constables namely: Thabang Petrus Mabapa (36), Karabo Mpati (31), Pfano Mugeri (32), Nsovo Marvin Mudabula (34) and Rudzani Vhutali Nelushi (31) attached to the Public Order Policing (POP) Unit in the West Rand on charges of corruption.
They were arrested on Sunday, 12 July 2026, following an incident that occurred at the intersection of R41 Road and Badshani Street, Rietvallei, Azaadville. A case of corruption was subsequently registered at Kagiso SAPS.
According to the preliminary investigation, the complainant, alleged that he was stopped by police officials who were conducting stop-and-search operations.
The complainant alleged that after complying with the police officials’ instructions and producing his passport for inspection, he informed the officers that he had approximately R22 000 in cash inside a brown envelope in the cabin of his vehicle before it was searched.
It is alleged that one of the police officials removed the cash from the vehicle, questioned the complainant about its source, and, despite the complainant explaining that he is an artist and that the money was lawfully his, returned only R2 000 while allegedly retaining the balance.
The complainant allegedly demanded the return of the remainder of his money, explaining that he required approximately R5 000 for transportation to catch a flight to Mozambique. His request was allegedly refused. As the police officials attempted to leave the scene, the complainant allegedly held onto the door handle of the SAPS vehicle in an effort to prevent them from departing. It is further alleged that one of the members pushed him away before the officials drove off.
The complainant followed the SAPS vehicle, photographed it, and subsequently reported the matter at Kagiso Police Station. They were tracked and instructed to report to the station.
Upon their arrival, the complainant positively identified the five police officers as the members involved in the incident.
The SAPS Anti-Corruption Unit was immediately notified and the members were arrested.

A 34-year-old detective constable, Elias Moeketsi Pinkoane, attached to the Orange Farm SAPS Detective Branch, is appearing before the Sebokeng Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder and attempted murder.
It is alleged that on Sunday 12 July 2026, at approximately 03:00, Pinkoane, who was off duty at the time, was in BK Lifestyle Cafe in Sebokeng, having arrived in a state vehicle. At or about the time the establishment was closing, Pinkoane and his partner went to buy gizzards, where they found three men who were also waiting in the queue.
An argument started after one of the men wanted to buy ALL the remaining gizzards. Pinkoane then went to the state vehicle, pulled his service pistol, and fired shots at the three men through the vehicle’s window before driving off.
As a result of the shooting, one victim was declared dead, while a second victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The third victim survived without physical injury.
Spent cartridge cases were recovered, with one found at the crime scene and another later recovered inside the state vehicle.
The accused was later traced to his residence, where he was arrested the same day. He has since been charged with murder and attempted murder, and is appearing before the Sebokeng Magistrates’ Court.

The founder of LADGAC, Tsebe Philimon Moloto, was granted bail of R50,000 by the Polokwane Magistrates' Court. He is facing two counts of malicious damage to property. He is alleged to have set alight his former girlfriend and business partner’s Toyota Hilux and a signage board.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, of Bedford, was detained by officers in Johannesburg last night in connection with the deaths of his wife Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, known as Zandile, and his daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5.

LIMPOPO | 14-year-old boy to appear before the Children's Court after allegedly raping and impregnating his 13-year-old relative in Waterval, Vhembe District.
The Makhado Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, is investigating rape case of a 13-year-old girl from Waterval policing area, Vhembe District, after it was discovered that victim was allegedly raped and impregnated by a 14-year-old relative residing in the same household.
According to information available to police, the matter came to light after the child's grandmother, with whom she had been staying at Nwa-Xinyamani Village, contacted the child's mother in March 2026 and asked her to fetch her daughter, citing behavioural concerns. The mother collected the child and took her home.
The mother later became concerned that her daughter might be pregnant and took her for a medical examination on 7 May 2026. The examination confirmed that the child was five months pregnant. When questioned, the child disclosed to her mother that a relative who resided with her had impregnated her.
The child reported that the abuse began around February 2026, during the night, when the relative undressed her while she slept. She stated that she attempted to resist but was overpowered, and that he warned her not to make a noise. She further disclosed that the assaults recurred on a number of occasions during the following months, all taking place at night.
The case has since been transferred to the Makhado FCS Unit for further investigation. As the alleged offender is himself a minor, he will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Child Justice Act, 75 of 2008.

SENTENCED | The High Court in Bloemfontein, sitting in Botshabelo, has handed down hefty sentences to murderer, Vusimuzi Daniel Nqele (43) who was sentenced to life imprisonment. Moeketsi Innocent Manko (35) was sentenced to life imprisonment. Abdool Rahman Thamando (35-year-old brother-in-law to the deceased) was slapped with 20 years imprisonment. Halimmah Thamando Mnyobisi (38-year-old wife of the deceased) was also sentenced to life imprisonment.
They were convicted of murder, read with the provisions of Section 51(1) Part I Schedule 2 of Act 105 of 1997 (Premeditated Murder).
On Friday, 15 September 2023, Botshabelo police received an alert from a local hospital regarding a suspected murder. A patrol vehicle was immediately dispatched. Upon arrival, it was reported that 35-year-old Fezile Mnyobisi, a teacher at Refihlile Primary School in C-Section, had been brought to the hospital by his wife in a private vehicle. He was tragically declared dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had sustained more than 30 stab wounds to his torso. Botshabelo police initially registered a case of murder and robbery at the Botshabelo Police Station.
Following an intense and multi-disciplinary investigation by the Provincial Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management, alongside the Investigative Psychology Section, warrants of arrest were issued. Hitmen Vusumuzi Daniel Nqele and Moeketsi Innocent Manko were intercepted and arrested on Friday, 8 November 2024, for murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Further meticulous investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s brother-in-law, Abdool Rahman Thamando.
The final piece of the puzzle fell into place on 26 November 2024 at approximately 16:00. Following a string of intelligence led leads, the tracking team traced the deceased's wife, Halimmah Thamando Mnyobisi, who had been on the run. She was found hiding out at a luxury residential complex in Sandton, Gauteng Province, where she was staying with her alleged boyfriend. She was swiftly arrested and brought to face justice alongside her co-conspirators.
