Not your Flag or Anthem: regardless of your feelings about the President, move to another country where you are willing to claim the flag and anthem. There are plenty of people desperate to take your place and proudly claim the Flag, Anthem and President of the USA as their own. (Be prepared, as most other nations won’t permit the open hostility towards their government and most certainly won’t permit the freedom of speech you currently enjoy.)

From your UK Flag icon, I’m assuming that you are from the UK or EU. If you are dining in the U.S. (on vacation) then you need to understand different tipping cultures and wait staff compensation standards here, vs Europe.

In the vast majority of Europe, wait staff are paid a professional wage and tipping is not an “expected “ addition to a bill. It is something that is occasionally added, on a voluntary basis, as a thanks for exceptional service.

In the U.S., conversely, wait staff are paid a very low (below standard minimum wage) hourly wage, which is offset by tip income. While this may vary depending upon the level of service required, in general, it is expected that diners should tip a minimum of 15% of the total invoice, at a full service restaurant. THIS IS THE FLOOR. I personally tend to tip closer to 20% with adjustments up or down, depending upon the level of service received.

To get to your post, if this was in the U.S., then you tipped far too little $, for a $500 bill. Anything below $75.00 is an insult.
