Back then, nobody dared offer them a bribe, but now everything has changed. You get to a checkpoint and see them stretching out their hands for you to slip money into. This behavior is more commonly associated with the police. Why would they adopt such behavior???

I think one of the things that would keep amusing me in present-day Nigeria is that roadside soldiers are now taking bribes. It’s crazy that growing up, Nigerian soldiers were the most feared force in the country. They didn’t take nonsense, and nobody dared challenge them………..
