In their true mark of evilness, #AlShabaab terrorists attacked Muslims during Iftar dinner at Syl Hotel in #Mogadishu.

The attack during month of Ramadan smacks of hypocrisy on part of Alshabaab, which claims to protect Muslims interests, only to kill them for no reason.

Alshabaab terrorists used explosives and gunfire to attack the hotel on Thursday evening, resulting to a siege that lasted for a number of hours.

#Somalia Security Forces have since killed all the terrorists and taken control of the hotel, which is near the president's office.

This is the first major Alshabaab attack in Mogadishu after Somalia government launched operations against the terrorist group, which significantly reduced its capabilities.

The operations are largely successful as Somalia government has managed to dethrone Alshabaab from some regions it originally controlled.

A good number of Alshabaab terrorists have been killed during the operations, which Somalia government often collaborates with partners.

Kenya is also involved in major operations along its border with Somalia to prevent the terrorists from crossing over to the country.

Kenyan security agencies have in the recent past killed Alshabaab terrorists in Northeastern region and Lamu County, recovered weapons and destroyed makeshift camps to guarantee security in the country.

The attack in Mogadishu clearly signifies that Alshabaab is a criminal group that has nothing to do with any religion.

Alshabaab terrorists are simply hypocrites who are hellbent to misuse religion to advance their evil agenda.

Alshabaab are criminals who should be treated as such and dealt with firmly within the law.

Let's all unite to fight terrorism in all its manifestations and terror groups like Alshabaab.

United States sanctions sixteen (16) companies & individuals in Horn of Africa, United Arab Emirates & Cyprus that fund #AlShabaab.

The entities are Faysal Yusuf Dini, Mohamed Jumale Ali Awale, Crown Bus Services from Kenya, Hassan Abdirahman Mahamed (Finland based Somali citizen), Qemat Al Najah General Trading (UAE) & Abdikarin Farah Mohamed (Somalia).

Other entities include Farhan Hussein Hayder (Kenya), Abdulkadir Omar Abdullahi (Uganda), Omar Sheikh Ali Hilowle & Haleel Commodities L.L.C from Dubai with branches in Kenya, Somalia,Uganda & Cyprus.

The entities are raising and laundering money for AlShabaab to fund their terrorism activities including killing innocent citizens in East Africa.

AlShabaab raises funds through extortion and support from such rogue entities hence blacklisting them makes the terrorist group technically bankrupt.

By dint of the US action, properties of the entities and individuals remain blocked to starve AlShabaab financially hence bolstering war against terrorism.

The US continues to support countries like Kenya and Somalia fight AlShabaab and other terrorist groups.

The US action is major win in war against terrorism through countering terrorism financing.

Closing financial taps that power AlShabaab is surest way to fight terrorism.

States need to fight money laundering and terrorism financing to win war on terror.

Kenya's Special Forces (SOG) kills five #AlShabaab militants & captures four others enroute to Fafi Sub-county in #Garissa County.

The Special Forces recovered 2 PKM, 1 RPM, 6 AK47 riffles & Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) making materials.

The terrorists who were arrested are being interrogated to provide more information on their activities in the country.

The SOG also recovered mobile phones and SIM that have given crucial leads on local AlShabaab facilitation networks.

The intelligence-led operation caught AlShabaab members by surprise as they crossed from #Somalia to Kenya to establish temporary base in Fafi within Garissa County.
