The Allahabad High Court (Justice Praveen Kumar Giri) directed the Jhansi Family Court to explain why it ordered a man to pay ₹10,000 monthly maintenance to his ex-wife, despite her officially disclosed remarriage.
The husband continues to pay ₹5,000 monthly for their minor son, which he does not contest.
Justice Praveen Kumar Giri was hearing a revision petition filed by the man challenging the order of the family court, directing him to pay Rs 10,000 per month as maintenance to his former wife.
In its order dated July 7, the high court issued notice to the wife and fixed July 21 as the next date of hearing.
The court also directed additional principal judge Harish Chandra to explain why he passed the maintenance order despite the wife’s second marriage having been disclosed in her objection dated Oct 30, 2025.
“The woman’s second marriage was disclosed by her in an affidavit. However, despite such disclosure, the family court directed the man to pay Rs 10,000 per month to the wife and Rs 5,000 per month to their son. Under the law, a wife is not entitled to maintenance after remarriage,” the husband’s counsel submitted.
