Isabel did what survivors are often encouraged to do: report what happened.

Instead, she now finds herself in prison.

During sentencing, questions were reportedly raised about Isabel’s education, qualifications and inconsistencies in mitigation letters.

The judge said Isabel had shown: “not an iota of remorse for her wicked behaviour."

Meanwhile, the man accused was described as “honest, credible & reliable”, “nothing but kind" and that Isabel had taken advantage of his "kindness, naivety, friendship & romantic interest."

Today, Isabel was sentenced to 6 years in prison. The maximum possible sentence was 7 years.

The judge rejected arguments relating to her lack of previous convictions, mental health and circumstances as a foreign national, stating there were “absolutely no mitigating factors.”

Messages shown in court reportedly showed Isabel confronting the man the next day. He didn’t deny raping her.

In January 2024, Isabel Rose reported that she had been raped while visiting Hong Kong.

Medical records reportedly documented injuries consistent with her account. The accused man was arrested, later released, and Isabel herself was subsequently arrested.
