π Location: Muchenje road, Mbare. A concerned resident wishes to raise an urgent safety concern while remaining anonymous.
As shown in the pictures, a sewage pit was dug in the area and has reportedly been left unattended since August this year. The pit is filled with sewage, and, more worryingly, there are no barricades or warning signs to alert pedestrians and other road users to the danger.
Are we waiting for another tragedy before action is taken? We cannot forget the previous sewage pit incident in which three bodies were reportedly recovered. We cannot afford to wait until another life is lost before this dangerous situation is addressed.
The surrounding homes are occupied by families, including young children, who are exposed to this hazard every day. Residents are struggling to access their gates, and vehicles are unable to pass through the affected area.
We plead with the relevant authorities to act urgently. Please do not wait for another tragedy to happen before taking responsibility.
