“Where are we going? Toward what goal do we wish to orient ourselves? What direction should we choose as a people and as a human community?” - Pope Leo XIV

We can’t have sustainable energy because it threatens the oil industry. We cannot have healthcare because it threatens insurance. We cannot have peace because it threatens the weapons industry. Capitalism built a system where doing the right thing is treated like bad business.
The alarming numbers of people defending Trump’s anti-Canada stance is truly mind boggling. Isn’t your whole anti-immigrant stance about “protecting our culture”??? The profound hypocrisy, stupidity and utter lack of respect or integrity is shameful. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
If you’re living with depression &/or anxiety, chronic illness, a bunch of not good thought pathways caused by trauma/others’ not good behaviour, miserable perimenopause, a differently-wired brain, you’re worried about climate change or you’re just feeling shite today, then hi, me too. This photo’s for your brain-it’s miniature posy from my garden in a thimble:
Remember when Doug Ford made a big announcement on TV about $750 for classroom supplies in #OntEd ?
Yah, no one has gotten that and school starts in a few weeks.

Read this number twice.
According to the Ohio Immigration Alliance, among a group of 59 ICE and Border Patrol agents it studied, 85% had sex-offense histories in their backgrounds.
For everybody voting in the upcoming provincial by-elections remember the Premier of Ontario @fordnation changed a law to prevent his cell phone records being released when ordered to do so by the Ont Court of Appeal. I wonder why he did that?
Taxpayer dollars should never be used to campaign for the governing party.
During an active by-election, Ford’s government is running “Protect Ontario” ads in Scarborough Southwest promoting the Scarborough subway extension - the same slogan the PCs used in the last election.
My colleague Stephanie Smyth is right to ask Elections Ontario to investigate. Public money is not campaign money. #onpoli
CSIS Officer says Trump offered financial support to Convoy people and is now working quietly to support Alberta separatism.
1) Why is there no such concept as treason in Canada anymore?
2) How clear does it need to be before we send Hoekstra and his ilk back home?
I don’t say it enough, but I am deeply honoured to have some of the nastiest, shit-kicking Canadians on my feed. You all rock, and I think we could all stand to be far nastier moving forward. Stay frosty!

It's time to retire the myth that Conservative governments are fiscally responsible. On the eve of three by-elections, Doug Ford wants to project an image of fiscal discipline.
He's not.
After 8 long years, Ontario is approaching half a trillion dollars in debt while taxpayers have paid for luxury hotels, a private jet, and insider-friendly spending.
Ontarians are paying more and getting less. #onpoli

@DFisman@deb2_debra How is Ford getting around the Canada Health Act?
The Canada Constitution separates the powers and authority of the federal and provincial governments, but are there no safeguards to prevent Ford’s privatization of Ontario healthcare? Federal transfers are being misappropriated.
The man who defined the term, said this about malignant narcissists:
“Public figures… prevent the open outbreak of their potential psychosis by gaining the acclaim and consensus of millions of people.” —Erich Fromm, The Heart of Man, 1964
Trump has lost the “acclaim and consensus of millions of people,” which is why he is decompensating by becoming clinically psychotic. This is not an insult or an epithet. It is an obvious fact. You simply have to listen to his words and understand basic abnormal psychology.
We’re in no man’s land.
To the thousands of WestJet flight attendants who are out on strike against unpaid work: the NDP stands with you.
Your fight is the fight of every worker who is sick and tired of getting pushed around by big corporations — people who are working harder than ever and still struggling to get ahead, while a handful of CEOs keep getting richer. Millions of Canadians will be cheering you on today.
The right to strike is not an inconvenience, it's a cornerstone of our democracy. That's why the Liberal government must not use Section 107 to force flight attendants back to work, as it did with Air Canada workers last year. Canadians won't soon forget if the Prime Minister intervenes on behalf of WestJet this time around.
This strike is about basic fairness, dignity and respect. No one should be expected to work for free.
