The Observer is under threat. 93% of journalists voted to strike next week because the Guardian Media Group is proposing to sell 233-year old The Observer - and journalists - to Tortoise Media, a loss-making digital start up, and to put its journalism behind a paywall.

@MrBrendanCox Please clarify whether new members signing up right now would be able to vote in the leadership contest? Last time, people had to sign up months ahead to qualify. The last time I contacted the Labour HQ about this, the information was very scrappy.
