Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal’s proposal to ban any MP and MLA who gets elected on Party X’s symbol and later defects to Party Y for money or under pressure should be welcomed. He calls for 10 years ban.

Point 5 of CJP’s first demand charter released by @abhijeet_dipke sought the same thing, but much stricter—a ban from holding ANY public office and contesting elections for 20 years.

Breaking political parties, bribing MPs with 50-100 crores, toppling governments is a fraud committed on the country. Such fraud should never happen. The Anti-Defection law is outdated. The ruling party has ensured its misuse in its lust for eternal power. The young will change this! 🇮🇳🪳✊🏻

How do you sleep, dear Haryana Govt.? 😡🥺

Every failure of civic governance is a risk to life, health and property in #Gurgaon #Gurugram.

No glacial collapse. No cloudburst. No freak weather event. Just 36–70 mm of rain and Gurgaon cannot safely absorb it, putting thousands of lives at risk, including children.

This is not the first time -it is now 10 years of the same plight. And what do we hear each time? MP Gurgaon cites history -the Badshapur Nallah being majorly covered. One Minister talks of “Viksit Bharat 2047” and WIP; another, the State Minister for Irrigation, tells us how long it will take. But can the city wait that long?

You know nature’s fury, don’t you? So far, nature has been kind. But what if there is a freak event and a major torrent downstream from the Aravallis?

Look at the evidence from just the past three days.

Slippery sludge roads outside Bandhwari. Waste fires in the middle of Sadar Market. Deep craters on roads. Dust clouds engulfing traffic. Garbage and malba dumped everywhere.

This is daily life. This is lived experience. And every one of these failures carries a risk.

Send 100 drones over Gurgaon. See the thousands of tractors dumping God knows what at every nook and open corner -especially around the SPR/GCER.

Look at the malba hills outside almost every society, #inertmaterial piled onto green belts and open spaces, making the ground impervious and #choking the pathways through which water should flow and be absorbed.

Please don’t just talk history. Talk geography.

Also talk o the geography you are changing and at what cost .

Leave alone apologising you are actually on the offensive.

Every year: #flooding during the rainy season. Intense, dense #dusthaze in peak summer. A smoky #smog shroud from local sources of PM2.5 in winter.

This is deteriorating civic life. And it is deteriorating public health and public safety.

Have a LIVE PUBLIC DEBATE on the day-to-day running of this city.

But you will need to LISTEN to your public not just make announcements. Your anger with a questioning public is completely misplaced.

We are starved of good, responsible governance governance that can come only when top political leadership stops looking at Gurgaon merely as a wealthy destination.
