@adamjohnsonCHI I certainly agree that we need peace as soon as possible. This horrible war is only making things worse. But you're asking Israel to trust the people who cut breasts off of women as they raped them on 10/7. Understand that some of us no longer trust Hamas.

@adamjohnsonCHI Of course I'm not smarter than they are. And I too have signed my name to letters and petitions demanding a ceasefire. I just don't think one is actually possible as things currently stand. The difference seems to be that you think Hamas will abide by one, and I don't. Ok.

@adamjohnsonCHI It's not meaningless fluff. Hamas doesn't want a ceasefire because they want to goad Israeli to kill more Palestinian civilians. That's what Hamas wants. They will condemn every Palestinian child if it results in Israel's destruction. There can be no ceasefire while that's true.

@adamjohnsonCHI The civilians have been oppressed by all sides, and I have endless sympathy for them. But Likud, Hamas, PLO, they all need to go before any progress can be made. And I have no idea how to possibly get those entities to lose power.

@adamjohnsonCHI You're assuming something I didn't say. Both sides need to show patience and neither side has done that, at least since the 90s. But "Palestinians" haven't done anything. Hamas is as much an enemy of ordinary Palestinians as the Likud party is. The PLO is a cartoon.
