A pitfall of going to YouTubers and TikTokers for coverage is that these creators aren’t beholden to any editorial standards or journalistic norms. In fact, they’re incentivized to break them, to fit the narrative and make money.
Not so familiar with the Depp-Heard case, but whatever the “truth” is, this is clear — TikTok, social media algorithms and its reward systems are changing power structures around the world.
It doesn’t help that we now have attention spans of a goldfish & no patience for detail.
