@dbendall@NancyGeorges I’ve read everything. Plenty of detail. Happy with my decision. Land council is state not federal and completely different to what is being voted on. Simple proposition, recognised in Constitution, empowered to advise on issues affecting them. No power to act.
@dbendall@NancyGeorges And none of that is in this Voice proposition either. Simple proposition - recognised in Constitution, empowered to advise policymakers on issues affecting them. Advise - no power. Treaty discussions are already happening and will happen even if there’s a no vote.
@dbendall@NancyGeorges Dutton says he’ll legislate based on the same detail. How is it unfair to the majority, we still get a vote, it doesn’t take anything away from us? Dutton will do the same - so how is that not divisive?
@dbendall@NancyGeorges@dbendall I know you were always going to vote no but seriously, what history have you looked at? Have you read the Uluru statement to hear what First Nations want & why? It’s an opportunity to unite around a great future for all Australians
How could John Farnham be even more of a legend than he already is? By doing this 👇- “gifting” his Voice to The Voice
So proud to have even a small role in this historic moment

@ulurustatement @mdavisqlder 🙏🙌
Phillip Coorey has published a text message by a Coalition MP where they admit they are trying to destroy the Voice (and constitutional recognition and reconciliation in the process) to win the election. This is an utterly despicable game Dutton is playing, and he’s been exposed.
Time to ban Coles and Shell in Oz for this irresponsible response to the need for climate action.
Shell’s ‘obscene’ $5bn profits reignite outrage amid climate crisis https://t.co/JweTZ29kGn
@happycardano1@Daggsy5338@yes23au The Voice referendum is voting to recognise our indigenous people in the constitution and give them a say in policy affecting them. Treaty discussions and negotiations are probably going to be more at state level as is happening in Victoria. That’s why the statements are false.
@happycardano1@Daggsy5338@yes23au Voice doesn’t force a treaty. Agree, Uluṟu statement had those three objectives. Treaty negotiations are already happening independent of voice referendum. They will continue and prob succeed whether there’s a yes or no on voice.
@Oh_Mr_Kelly@Daggsy5338@yes23au Saying it can never be changed just ratchets up the fear. But making it hard to change is kinda the point of putting it in the constitution. But that’s not to say it could never be changed.
@Daggsy5338@yes23au Don’t need to ask Mr Mayo about the first one. That’s fundamental constitutional law. Anything can be changed in constitution by referendum. So not correct to say it is there for ever. Certainly harder to remove than if legislated. But still possible to remove.
