Things didn’t go our way last night, but that’s alright. Because with Jesus Christ at the center of our lives, and with millions of Texans who still believe in faith, family, and freedom, I know the future is bright.

This was a spirited campaign, and I wouldn’t have done it any other way. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to spend these past months traveling across our great state, meeting new friends, hearing your stories, and building relationships that I pray will last a lifetime.

Emily and I are deeply grateful.

But the thing I’m most grateful for today is getting to go home to my family. To hug my children again. To plant a big kiss on little Willie, Victoria, and Olivia. And to once again focus on being a father and continuing to serve the people of our district, the greatest district in the country.

To everyone who placed their faith in me and cast a vote for Wesley Hunt, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You will never know how much your support meant to me and my family.

What comes next is in God’s hands. But I am proud of the race we ran, and I’m proud of the way we ran it, positive, uplifting, and focused on the future.

Because that’s who I am.
And that’s who we are as Texans.
