@BFett44444 @lippyent I read the book but don't remember the ending. I love the movie because there are so many levels of horror. There are so many threats. For me, the ending is the cherry on top. You can't make something more horrific than that ending.

BTW, one of the most bad ass heroines of all time is Mrs. Brisby from the Secret of NIHM. Sees the owl, stops a tractor, visits the rats, drugs a cat, and rescues her home.
