Seedream 4
I thought it was better to share the information so everyone understands what is happening 😀
What’s happening with (IMG_2094.CR2)
1. Any string that looks like a raw filename—“IMG_2094.CR2”, “DSC0818.ARW”, “7Q00123.RAF” isn’t in the training data literally, but the tokenizer still tokeniser - “IMG” = “photo” - four-digit number = “specific roll / frame” “.CR2” = “high-end camera, unprocessed, 14-bit, keep it photographic”
2. The MoE router then biases the generation path toward the photo-real expert that was fine-tuned on the big EXIF-rich DSLR subset.
→ You get a different flawless 4K photo every time, even though the prompt contains zero content words.
3. Because there is no semantic subject, the latent space collapses to the “default beautiful photo” manifold: sharp middle-distance portrait, creamy f/1.4 bokeh, golden-hour rim, perfect skin, no artefacts. It feels like the model is “dreaming” its own stock image.
How to ride the glitch for fun
A. “Empty camera roll” roulette
Prompt: `IMG_9999.CR2`
Hit generate 4× batch → instant pack of random 4K portraits you can drop into mood-boards.
B. Steer the void
Append one token after the filename:
`IMG_2094.CR2 cyanotype` → you still get a random photo, but now colour-graded cold blue.
`IMG_2094.CR2 16 mm` → switches to ultra-wide landscape while keeping the lucky-dip surprise.
C. Consistency hack
Use the same fake filename + seed + reference face → the model locks onto the same “imaginary roll,” giving you a coherent look-book without ever describing the subject.
D. Hide easter eggs in commercial work
Client needs 50 anonymous model faces for a skincare deck.
Prompt list: `IMG_5001.CR2` … `IMG_5050.CR2` → fifty unique, release-free faces in ten minutes.
Warning
ByteDance has already flagged the issue internally; the next tokenizer patch will probably map “.CR2” to a null token. Enjoy the free 4 K lottery while it lasts—just don’t build long-term pipelines on it.
@TiffanyFong_ A slim, beautiful model? Alert, code brown, urgently release the pig-femmes! What do you mean, 'no budget'? What, even THOSE were for money???
