That was NOT the point being made, but hey thanks anyway.
Much earlier in this thread, is was suggested by another that if 230 is sunsetted, cancellations and censoring will increase dramatically (I can't remember the exact terminology and I'm NOT searching back through the thread)
It has therefore NOTHING to do with what they can already do, it was simply taking up that suggestion and saying that if 230 is sunsetted, they can indeed go "ballistic" etc. for all I care, because at least it will be in the knowledge that 230 has absolutely nothing to do with it all.
During a Foreign Affairs Committee session back in November 2025, Sir Oliver Robbins (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the UK - very recently sacked by Starmer!) was asked whether the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) had a different view of who should be recommended for the posting of US Ambassador. His response was: "It was clear that the Prime Minister wanted to make this appointment himself".
The smell of ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉis overwhelming!
The point being discussed here was Bylaws vs Reachable laws and the example referred to was how each may differ regarding removal of a member from a church, particularly in terms of seeking law enforcement involvement rather than just simply asking a member to leave because they disrupted services.
Whilst law enforcement may still get involved in that situation, I wouldn't bet on it. I would bet on it however if the bylaws of the church were being broken because they are legally enforceable.
It was not about free speech obligations, forums or justifying removals etc. re churches and BTW on the basis of your โKFFโ introduction to the thread, I'll not be engaging any further.
Church forums (Christian Church) have been around for about 2000 years, and they seem to have managed just fine, including the relatively short period which included the internet. I'm sure if the internet aspect to their forum proves more trouble than it provides benefit, unlike YouTube they can simply ditch it. I can't see Churches being afforded any special protections though.
@ThinkingSapien@Lormif1 @MarkN5458 @99og_grey@SergioVengeance@PLottaz@ricwe123@TeamYouTube For Court cases and matters which could lead to a court case, that would be yes and hence probably why Lawyers or Attorneys get paid big Bucks to do what they do, however most like myself are merely exchanging opinions and views on a social media platform.
Being the "heart of my claim" (indeed this entire dialogue) centers around Rick Sanchez's cancellation (and it possibly being related to Section 230), I'm pretty sure you knew that was still the subject matter in question, hence I said it was pedantic.
Content creators have indeed being going elsewhere for years, especially around 4 to 6 years ago, when cancel culture appeared to be at its peak and notably most or all of them haven't subsequently been cancelled from whatever that elsewhere is, which I think shows how partisan YouTube really is.
Anyway, hopefully 230 will get sunsetted after which YouTube can be as partisan as they want, indeed they can go cancellation on a ballistic scale for all I care (something you'll be sharing all the 'facts' on that as mentioned earlier), because after that there can be no questions on anything being related to 230.๐
@Lormif1@ThinkingSapien @MarkN5458 @99og_grey@SergioVengeance@PLottaz@ricwe123@TeamYouTube Said all I need to say on Obscenity several days ago and again a few minutes ago.
By contrast I've asked you three times now and you haven't made any comments about the issues (i.e. the ones that I reckon you don't care about), which are essentially driving the Sunset 230 Bill?
It has "relevance" to the other half of 'we'/'us'๐, plus nobody (even including you) gets to make any rules here!
When the other half of 'we/'us' is being pedantic, as suggested elsewhere by @alexklinger and which I've experienced too, where responses like saying 'thanks for telling me' kind of thing etc and as for annoying, responses like saying 'really' or 'too bad you feel that way' kind of thing etc., as I've done a few times to date, seems best fitting for both.
So......Really, thanks for telling me and too bad you feel that way!
Fantastic so on you go then and don't be shy, list all your โfactual' points about the impact of sunsetting of 230?
BTW make sure you don't generalise, for example โit will increase censorship', because I think most or all predict that and besides you're apparently much more talented than all of those that wrote articles on it and therefore very able give various facts that are obviously real, actual, and capable of being proven, observed, or verified. Yes all of that even before an event has happenedโฆโฆ..very impressive!
On the vein that covered obscenity, and per your point made on 26 March: โEveryone can LITERALLY discriminate against certain opinions and it's LITERALLY a 1a protected action. There are no limitations.", I responded: โYes, except where SCOTUS has identified certain exceptions not protected, including obscenity, defamation, fraud, incitement to imminent lawless action, true threats, and speech integral to criminal conduct, all on the basis their harm caused outweighs the value of the speech........โ.
I didn't use the word LITERALLY as an intensifier towards my response (maybe that would have helped๐), but by identifying these 6 exceptions as NOT being protected actions (i.e. unprotected speech), means they are generally subject to civil liability (lawsuits) or criminal penaltiesโฆโฆ.so rather than ignoring you, I've previously covered what obscenity can incur in the legal field!
@StratcomCentre Presumably if he comes here via a small boat from France, he'll be given a 4 star hotel, lots of other freebies and the UK Govt. will apparently be unable to remove him because of various potential human rights violations re the ECHR! ๐คช๐๐คช๐๐
@ricwe123 By and large he'll be looking for those to join up who are often deemed to be 'toxic masculinity', 'white supremacists', 'far right' etc. ๐๐คช
On one hand Starmer wants to have unhindered shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, but on the other hand he wants to use the UK military to capture Russian ships using the English Channel to deliver oil to support its war in Ukraine. ๐๐คช
On top of that, earlier this week Russia sent a war ship to protect its assets moving through the English Channel and the UK did nothing.๐คฃ
@kmbiamnozie@ricwe123 The Israel-Iran 'situation' is quite a bipartisan matter, because had Hillary won the 2016 election, we could well have had this conflict 9 or 10 years ago. ๐ค
@ltdancoin@CPhilpOfficial I'm certainly no fan of Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa (nom de guerre: Abu Mohammad al-Julani), but the beheading photo is generally believed to be Mohamed Elomar, an Australian Jihadist. ๐ค
