You're completely missing the point. Who said I was talking about the Glazers?
Manchester United became a financial powerhouse long before the Glazers arrived. The club benefited enormously from the investments and financial backing of its previous owners, particularly during the Edwards era, and subsequently built a commercial empire on that foundation.
The Glazers bought an already successful, wealthy club and loaded it with debt. That doesn't erase the advantages United had enjoyed for decades.
And here's the real hypocrisy: United were allowed to establish their financial dominance in an era when wealthy owners could invest without today's restrictions. But when City sought to challenge that dominance, suddenly owner investment became a threat to football that needed regulating.
You benefited from an open door, then supported rules that made it harder for others to walk through it.
So stop confusing the Glazers' financial exploitation of United with the historical advantages that helped make United one of the richest clubs in the world.
The issue isn't whether United won despite the Glazers. The issue is why clubs like United were allowed to build their dominance under one set of financial conditions while their challengers are expected to compete under another.
I am not saying that this is what actually happened or that City's owner personally funded the club. I am mocking the very idea behind the accusation. My point is that such an accusation is fundamentally flawed, both logically and, in my view, legally, if properly challenged before an independent court of law.
Furthermore, City opposed these financial regulations from the outset, but they were pushed through by the so-called cartel to protect their established advantages and restrict genuine competition.
And let's not forget that these four clubs consistently seem to enjoy privileges that other clubs do not. The latest example is the reported preferential treatment they received, being informed of the charges and subsequently the verdict before the rest of the Premier League clubs.
How can anyone seriously talk about fairness and sporting integrity when certain clubs appear to enjoy privileges that are denied to everyone else?
I’m confused. Weren’t you expecting a positive outcome? What has changed? Why are you now suggesting we shouldn’t have confidence in the appeal and should instead look to the higher courts?
My main question is: if we lose the appeal, could the sanctions be enforced immediately? And if City then challenges the decision in court, would that automatically suspend the sanctions, or would the club need to obtain a separate court order to halt enforcement until the case is decided?
@RealTolmie An RB is an absolute must. I simply can’t understand how a club as big as City has gone almost three years without a proper, natural right-back.
@RealTolmie As things stand, I’m genuinely worried. There are only two weeks left in the window, and in my opinion we still have a lot of work to do to strengthen this squad. We need some positive news soon!
@RealTolmie Tolmie, it’s been almost 24 hours since your last post! 😅 Come on, man, give us something about our transfers — anything would be welcome at this point!
