The Madras High Court has issued an interim injunction halting the construction of a large church adjacent to a century-old Mariyamman Temple in Kalapatti, Coimbatore.

A division bench of Justices G.R. Swaminathan and V. Lakshminarayanan observed that "mala fide intentions cannot be ruled out" when building a massive religious structure within a stone's throw of an old temple, especially given the tiny local Christian population.

Highlighting past history, the judges explicitly noted that Coimbatore is a "communally sensitive city" that has previously witnessed bomb blasts and bloody religious riots. The court ruled that when the overwhelming majority of local residents vigorously oppose such construction—and with revenue records indicating the disputed site is officially a public road—the authorities cannot casually brush their objections aside. The stay aims to preserve local religious amity.

Under Art 19(1)(c) of the Constitution, registration is a choice, not a mandate for voluntary movements. Since you want to police unregistered ideological parent bodies, please also share same letters to these massive networks in Karnataka?👇🏼
1️⃣ Tablighi Jamaat: Vast Islamic missionary network; zero corporate registration or central bank accounts
2️⃣ Jamaat-e-Islami Hind: Cadre-based movement; parent body is an unregistered Association of Persons
3️⃣ The Catholic Church: Spiritual authority derives from internal Canon Law, not state codification
4️⃣ Sufi Chisti/Khadri Silsilas: Vast Dargah networks managed via customary, unregistered lineages
5️⃣ Evangelical Fellowships: Hundreds of localized, unregistered prayer groups

Like the RSS, these parent movements are unregistered, while their individual local schools/properties use separate registered trusts.

Is this about public transparency, or is the accountability drill reserved for your just one organization?
