@BubuliNotsu@1000SunnyVM@BEBIESINS I think it's unreasonable to expect people to essentially become a resident of Japan just to have access to some games, Manga, or anime. If a Japanese company does not want to export their works, that's fine, but I wish they did. I want to support artists
@1000SunnyVM@BEBIESINS Sobthe answer is to become a Japanese resident to engage in Japanese media? Would you be okay with swarms of people coming to Japan just to buy a couple of games? From my understanding, foreigners are not too popular.
@the_drunken@kanakirigoe222@daisyariiin Okay, I understand. The use of the Japanese characters in a riot is seen as disrespectful, right? I get that. I have only been listening to the conversation on piracy, I don't know anything about the riots.
@the_drunken@kanakirigoe222@daisyariiin Okay, I think I understand. So the problem is that people are too loud about the piracy? If people were apologetic and quiet about piracy, would it be less hurtful?
@the_drunken@kanakirigoe222@daisyariiin I think it's a cultural difference. The difference might be too much for us to come to an agreement, so we should agree to disagree. I don't think piracy is all bad, and I understand why a lot of Japanese people think it is
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn I understand, that makes sense. I don't tell people about the things I pirate, and some people do take pride in it. People who can buy a piece of media but pirate it instead are considered to be bad people in the west.
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn Yes, it will never go away. I think the main difference is that western creators think "at least someone s enjoying what I made" while for the Japanese, it is a lot more disrespectful to pirate, at least this is what I understand.
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn I don't wish to insult anyone, there are cultural differences and it's something that should be talked about to better understand each other
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn I agree, a corporation being able to even operate here is important. If there is no money to be found, why export in the first place? I believe that the only people who would not buy official releases are those who don't have money for it. People buy what they love.
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn I think piracy will always exist, but I believe the majority of people are willing to pay for manga and games should it be available. We love Japanese works and would love to engage in it.
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn Piracy is definetly causing some damage, especially if the games are available to buy. However, my point is that there is very clear profit to be had here. The companies might not be able to maximize profits due to piracy, but something is better than nothing.
@lifesch_doc_P I agree. It shouldn't be the responsibility of the researchers to do it, and it wouldn't need to happen if knowledge was better disseminated.
@Nana_mitui@lzlj9XV6sX68550@onepercentdsgn I understand this way of thinking, but the gaming market is thriving in the west despite piracy, which I think shows that it is very possible to export games to other countries.
@Shirogane1036 If I like the game, I will buy it, even if it was pirated before and became available. If I don't like it, I won't buy it nor will I pirate it.
@Shirogane1036 I don't know about others, but I don't think this way. If it's available to me, regardless of price, I will buy it to support creators. The presence of piracy does not affect how much I'm willing to pay.
@Shirogane1036 I see where you're coming from, but I also want creative to continue applying their craft. Sure I can get the game for free whenever I want, but I want them to make games again, so if I can afford to support them I will. If the game isn't available to me I cannot support them
@sukiyakimg1 Well I simply don't pirate it until I get money. Most people will buy it when they have money available to support the creator. It's also usually bad form to pirate from indie creators as opposed to big companies
