If we are going to save the human race. We need to know the truth.
We need to come together and fight against climate change
War is responsible
for the worlds suffering-
And people that make these decisions care about money, power.
Not in
the best interest of the vulnerable
WATCH: This is the moment Republicans began their ambush by calling the budget veto override for a vote after they had told Democrats there would be no votes.
Rep. Butler is shielded by fellow Dems as she calls out the travesty and stands her ground. #ncpol@cnn@msnbc@foxnews
@alexbaca@YIMBYDurham Fair enough. Agree with you 100% in theory. The nuances in this Durham EHC make it more complex. It’s bad for low income ppl. We need to end single family zoning- let’s start with stopping the build of new single family developments. Best of luck in DC.
@alexbaca@YIMBYDurham We believe historic preservation is key to quality of life. And that low income people should be able to live in those places and be a part of it. Please don’t think that affordable housing and historic preservation are mutually exclusive.
@dawnbvaughan@JEJ_HSNEWS DeDreana showed that she is the only council member who understands the nuances of planning, is willing to listen to people, and will stand up to the real estate special interests.
@alexbaca@YIMBYDurham Financial winner #1: big developers funding city council campaigns. Financial winner #2: upper middle income homeowners who’s land values will skyrocket. Losers: historic preservation, quality architecture, low income people
@alexbaca@YIMBYDurham How the EHC could have been a good policy: area plans to tailor contextually sensitive solutions would have resulted in higher densities in the right places. There are zero design standards. This will be gentrification on steroids.
@alexbaca@YIMBYDurham This is objectively bad planning. The process was rushed. A short list of what went wrong: no steering committee, did not ask neighborhoods what they wanted, did not legitimately engage low income populations and people of color.
@BikeDurham No offense but the EHC is a neoliberal giveaway to big developers, who have a stronghold on the majority of Durham City Councilors. They trampled on the neighborhoods and the real estate special interests are celebrating. Better process would have resulted in higher density.
#FosterOnThePark already so ugly @DurhamCentralPark is looking to fix it by painting over the giant bare wall facing one of Durham’s most prominant spaces. Great job designers! Kudos to Blue Heron Asset Management who definitely cares about the local community, wink wink.
Onion headline: “it’s too bad our region is one of the worst sprawled in the world and we’re concerned about the social and environmental consequences that may have for future generations, says appointed body who regular endorses sprawl developments.”
Merry Christmas to everyone except those who vacation in places like Paris and Madrid but oppose 4-story buildings with no parking in their own neighborhoods.
@kdlondo@WRAL Dude you’re pretty badass. Yeah man. I like to dramatically oversimplify the world too. But some people might ask why someone was so desperate to make the trek. Might ask why we allow children to die in our custody. Might just simply be grownups.
