@DrShayPhD What makes your interpretation of scripture better than mine own? Where in the Bible does it say that the deuterocanonical books aren’t Scripture?
@DrShayPhD James 5:16, Rev 5:8, 8:4
2nd Maccabees and 1 Corinthians 3:15
Matthew 16:16-18, Matthew 18:18
Matthew 16:16-18, John 21:15-17, Luke 22:42
Luke 1:34
Rev 12:1
You can read St. Augustine, Pope St. Leo the Great, St. Clement, Pope St. Gregory and St. Ambrose of Milan on these topics.
@DrShayPhD Or maybe it’s because I’ve read the Bible and the early Church Fathers. And because I accept that the church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth.
@adelethelaptop “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.”
Matthew 16:18
Your argument is that Jesus allowed the gates of hades to prevail against his church for centuries until the reformation.
@WSamela1955@NyinaWaJambo81 Lot of words to say you’re a schismatic. Go hold a general imperfect council with the 75 thuc line bishops hobbling around the US and leave the Catholics to discuss Catholic things.
@LizzieMarbach “When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”
Luke 1:41-42
@NyinaWaJambo81 “All Christian groups” and evangelicals have increased their weekly attendance, while Black and mainline Protestants are more or less stagnated. Only for Catholics was it such a dramatic fall.
@RojonVonS@nathancoxey So if we don’t obey the son in loving God and our neighbors…which is summarized in Romans 13 as this. So we need to obey the commandments to love our neighbor and to follow Christ.
The Arians used to quote Scripture to explain why Jesus wasn’t God but a creation. It took two ecumenical councils to define the Trinity, another two to define the hypostatic union and the natures of Christ. It’s not shocking at all.
@LizzieMarbach It took two ecumenical councils and about 300 years of theological bickering for Christianity to make the Trinity the basic litmus test of a theologically orthodox Christian.
@capitolhillcath@MarkNyland2@AuditeInsulae You are incorrect. FSSP can operate personal parishes approved by the diocesan ordinary. Diocesan parishes can have TLMs if they are approved by the ordinary and the DDF.
@adelethelaptop The catechism is free online, it’s hard to “pirate” something free. Unless they’re trying to sell the catechism online for whatever reason or pass the catechism as their own work, it’s not a sin.
