Poor start to this #FPL season? ๐
On this episode of #FPLTalkies, seasoned pro Soumyadipta Biswas (@baganboyFPL) joins @lateriser12 and @zophar666 to share tricks of the trade to help you climb the rankings ๐
@SaoirsedT@benjonescricket Yes - I seem to remember the article. I do not remember if Crowe mentioned Test cricket specifically. PS: just by his nature, Crowe was too unconventional to think Test Cricket only - but I might be wrong here.
Martin Crowe though - what a legend.
@adamofyorkshire@benjonescricket Of course - it is, at the moment. I am in agreement there.
All I am saying is that what the historians consider as important also shifts with time.
@SaoirsedT@benjonescricket Kinda sorta. Maybe in England. Not elsewhere.
Smith, Williamson and Kohli all made their appearance in the 2008 U19 WC.
I do agree that test records should be pre-eminent though.
@adamofyorkshire@benjonescricket At this point in time of history yes. I agree too. Who has seen the future, though?
E.g. Nobody takes the first class records of Ranji and Fry and Rhodes very seriously anymore. Even 80 years ago first class / County cricket records were revered.
@cfcsal@VictoryOwai I would too as primary creator. As main creator, Foden Palmer Saka are better.
But Kane is ENG's main man (scorer+creator), Bellingham is the secondary creator. England needs runners at RW/LW. PF/CP are not. Madueke is, thus him. Saka too isn't, but can roleplay that effectively.
@noontonightt Why should someone pity-watch ISL? I have an actual team at the ISL, a team I was born with, that I once used to go to the stadium to watch, and I watch at max 2/3 games per year - the coverage is absolutely dismal + no marketing, no narrative, poor standards.
@AadityaN_28 My personal POV @AadityaN_28 e.g. Kabaddi is way better marketed than football.
Football is fun to watch. Stadiums in the city are mostly at accessible locations. If you build it, he will come (said Ray Kinsella). It's not been built, sadly.
@AadityaN_28 Agree. It's sad. I really want to go to the matches. I want to go to the Kanteerava with my son, but it's just not a very appetising thought. Had gone a couple of times - for MB and EB vs BFC matches for contrasting reasons. Maybe will try again. Nothing like live football.
People have options to watch quality sport everywhere, pretty much every minute of their lives. This begging for pity support from the Indian Football community is one of my pet peeves. Why should a casual, who has all those other options, care when the bloody Federation doesnโt?
@spicydabeli Recommend Novy Kapadia's Barefoot to Boots. 'til the mid/late 70s Football and Cricket were as much pan India as each other - Cricket more an urban sport and football much more taken up in the rural parts. Hockey was still big too. Then '83 happened.
That's our sporting history.
@spicydabeli A HECK OF A LOT of pockets. Karnataka, Kerala, Hyderabad, Bengal, the North East, Punjab, Goa, Delhi, Bihar, Tamil Nadu.
More than half the country. That's not pockets.
