Someone sent $0 worth of a dog coin to a man who didn't ask for it. He turned it into the largest crypto donation in history.
> In August 2020 an anonymous person calling himself Ryoshi launched Shiba Inu with one quadrillion tokens
> It had no investors, no VCs or a press release.
> His plan, written in something he called a "woofpaper", was to send 50% of the entire supply directly to Vitalik Buterin.
> He just sent him 500 trillion SHIB tokens to his wallet without warning.
> His reason was: "There is no greatness without a vulnerable point. As long as VB doesn't rug us, Shiba will grow and thrive."
> He intentionally made the co-founder of Ethereum the single largest holder of his memecoin as a marketing strategy without ever telling him.
> Vitalik woke up one day with 50% of a dog coin sitting in his wallet and had no idea what to do with it.
> By May 2021 those tokens were worth over $1 billion.
> He donated 50 trillion SHIB to India's COVID-19 relief fund
> Worth $1.2 billion at the time it was the largest crypto donation in history.
> Then burned 410 trillion of the remaining tokens, destroying $6.7 billion in a single transaction
> Saying he didn't want to be a "locus of power" in a dog coin project.
> SHIB pumped on the news of the burn.
> In May 2022 Ryoshi deleted every account, every blog post, every trace of himself and disappeared.
> His last words: "I am not important, and one day I will be gone without notice. Take the SHIBA and journey upwards frens."
> Nobody knows who he is. He never sold a single token.
The coin he built reached a $40 billion market cap. None of it was supposed to work and all of it did.
🔥 85,075,311,824 $SHIB Burned
80,022,668,294 $SHIB burned in a single transaction, followed by a 5,000,000,000 $SHIB burn and a couple smaller burns.
Nearly $1M that went under the radar at the time.
This wasn’t a community burn. This comes from an event that happened on June 18th, 2025. You may have heard this story.
@ZachXBT first flagged suspicious outflows tied to an address 0xf22cc3c5b24e3b40ba7a27b82ea0d4b6d3088bbd.
Further reporting from @Reuters and @CoinDesk later confirmed the scale of the exploit. An Iranian crypto exchange, Nobitex, was reportedly hacked for $90M+.
0xffFFfFFffFFffFfFffFFfFfFfFFFFfFfFFFFDead
was mentioned (a burn address on Ethereum) on those reports, but didn't see anyone going further to confirm that multiple tokens like $SHIB were actually burned. Somehow, it was missed. One of the burns being the 2nd biggest burn we had so far for $SHIB.
Other assets were wiped as well:
-255.6 billion $PEPE
-12 thousand $CHAIN
-262 ETH
...just to name some.
As you may know, tracking $SHIB was mostly focused on known SHIB-related burn addresses. That’s why this was missed. We should’ve been tracking more addresses.
So what changed?
We built a new tracking platform that monitors 100+ addresses, including 29 official burn addresses in Ethereum, with 0xffFFfFFffFFffFfFffFFfFfFfFFFFfFfFFFFDead being one of them.
The new application will be revealed within 3 weeks.
A platform built to track burns at a much deeper level, across chains, tokens/nfts/coins. We already have over 1M tokens tracked. The new https://t.co/qLBGSroZi9 uses the platform's API and will be accessible to others.
That’s how this was discovered, and is now accounted for.
This one went under the radar.
It shouldn’t have.
It won’t happen again.

I have a strong feeling like we all need to return to $SHIB. The crypto market is in shambles, meme coins arent thriving, and chart looks bottomed.
I will never forget where we all started. We are all Ryoshi.
#SHIB
@kunoo Funny thing is… 4 days after this tweet (Oct 24, 2021), SHIB went on to hit its ATH on Oct 28 at $0.000088 🚀
Guess the market didn’t really care about that reply.
Do not forget that SHIB erased six zeros in 2021.
Also remember that the early holders were severely tested during the biggest dip in Shiba's history.
One thousand dollars dropped to $1.90, yet they held.
Shiba began its recovery in the second week of January 2021, and by January 31, one dollar had turned into $29,000.
Anything is possible in a bull run.
We are here.
About a year ago or more, we proposed an idea on behalf of the community: submitting a request to the exchanges to burn 1% of #SHIB from daily trading volumes. I believe it was the first initiative coming from a real community. We still aim for broader community support to refine this idea.
If you agree with it, let’s start drafting a general and transparent request, asking the mentioned exchanges to discuss the idea with us here:
