Option 2: Brown to the Pelicans
Celtics get:
Zion Williamson
Trey Murphy
Yves Missi
Pelicans get:
Jaylen Brown
Sam Hauser
Pelicans finally move on from Zion and give Jaylen his own team. Celtics address generating quality shots around the rim with Zion. Maybe the chance in scenery is what he needs teaming up with a Duke guy in Tatum in Boston. Missi/Queta can share center minutes. Murphy plugs in for Brown.
Tatum/Zion P&R would be fun. Plus Jay-Z is the perfect nickname.
Option 1: Brown to the Jazz
Celtics get:
Walker Kessler (after signing w/ Utah as RFA)
Ace Bailey
Future 1st Round pick
Jazz get:
Jaylen Brown
Celtics now get a true starting center that can make impact plays around the rim on both ends and bring Queta off bench. Bailey adds a high upside wing to develop and fill some of Brown's role.
Jazz now become a true threat out west with a starting 5 of:
Keyonte George
Darryn Peterson (we think)
Brown
Lauri Markkanen
Jaren Jackson
The Celtics are entertaining trade offers for Jaylen Brown, per @ShamsCharania.
The Hawks, Rockets, Blazers, Clippers, Spurs, Nuggets, and Pelicans should be viewed as potential suitors for the 2024 Finals MVP.

Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital. I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this.
As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.
Thank you for the overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages — they have meant so much to me and my family during this time.
I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.
🚨 TRAGIC UPDATE: Nancy Guthrie, 84, dead after brutal abduction in Tucson, ransom note said she was “Buried with nature”!
Federal sources confirm the beloved grandmother was killed after being taken from her home. Sick ransom notes demanded millions in Bitcoin — one even said she was “buried with nature.”
A masked suspect caught on doorbell cam. Still no arrests.
This is heartbreaking. Pure evil targeting the vulnerable.
Prayers for the Guthrie family as they seek closure and justice. $1.2M reward still active
#celtics Now you deal Jaylen to Portland, Houston or Atlanta if the relationship is broken. If not, u run it back and add a big via the 27 mill TPE and draft a PG. No way White gets dealt to Minny now, after they dumped Randall. Just deal Hauser for anyone. 🍀
PG: Davion Mitchell
SG: Norman Powell
SF: Andrew Wiggins
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo
C: Bam Adebayo
This team lacks:
- Shooting
- Elite Individual creation
- Back-court playmaking
- Limited ball handling
- Depth
I also think there is a questionable offensive fit between both Bam and Giannis. It’s always great getting the star, but a move like this should put your right on the doorstep of a championship. I’m not sure it’s done that for Miami, and they’re now limited in what secondary moves they can make before the season outside of their exceptions.
Cap and Tax impacts for the Nets, Bulls and Wolves three-team trades:
Brooklyn: $36.1M in projected cap space available
Chicago: $32.5M in projected cap space available
Minnesota: $43.8M under the luxury tax, create a $33.3M TPE
Timberwolves free up significant salary with the remaining two years of Randle's deal, giving them more flexibility to retain Ayo Dosunmu and use exceptions. Nets acquire a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA forward in Randle into their cap space -- plus a first-rounder. Chicago uses part of its space on a talented athletic center, a position of need, with $30 million in room left.
Just in: Minnesota is sending Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick in the NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade that sends Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN. The Timberwolves will acquire Brooklyn’s No. 33 pick for Randle and No. 28.
