🚨🔵 For everyone who keeps dragging Chelsea into Manchester City’s 115-charge case, there is an important distinction to understand.
Chelsea did wrong. We have never denied that. But Chelsea’s historical breaches and the allegations against Manchester City are NOT the same thing.
🔵 CHELSEA:
The Premier League found undisclosed third-party payments between 2011 and 2018 involving players, unregistered agents and other parties. Chelsea’s current owners voluntarily reported the potential breaches in 2022, admitted the violations and provided around 200,000 documents to investigators.
Most importantly, the Premier League explicitly said that even if those payments had been properly included in Chelsea’s financial submissions, Chelsea would not have breached the PSR limits during the relevant periods.
🔵 MANCHESTER CITY:
City were referred to an independent Commission over alleged breaches covering multiple seasons, including allegations concerning the accuracy of financial information, sponsorship revenue, related-party matters, player/manager remuneration and PSR requirements. The Premier League’s original referral covered seasons from 2009/10 to 2017/18 for some of the financial-information allegations.
City have contested the allegations rather than accepting them, so it is important not to present the allegations as established facts unless and until the relevant proceedings determine them.
So yes, Chelsea broke rules and Chelsea were punished. Nobody is arguing otherwise.
But constantly using Chelsea as a comparison whenever City’s case is discussed completely misses the documented differences between the two cases.
And remember: these Chelsea breaches relate to the Abramovich era. The current ownership voluntarily reported the historical issues after taking control and cooperated with the investigation. The Premier League itself described that cooperation as a significant mitigating factor.
@leedsboygrant23 Definitely I’m too white me 30 is my limit, it was like 40+ in Thailand but it just hit different, didn’t feel that hot at all, was weird, holiday heat is different though if I’m honest.
@leedsboygrant23 ah no way, just had a work colleague go there last week as well, the weather good? I’ve never been, definitely want to go there though
