Your Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan,
It was with a lot of sadness, that I received the bad news of the death of your dear husband, Mr. Hafidh Hassan.
I extend the most heart-felt condolences from the brother People of Uganda and from my family and myself, to your Excellency, your family and the People of Tanzania.
Eversince I started knowing you as Vice-President of the United Republic of Tanzania and now as President, I have witnessed your love for your country and Africa and your dedication.
We have done a lot together in the areas of trade, the East African Oil Pipeline, the Murongo-Kyikagate mini-hydro station, the tarmac roads on the side of Tanzania, the transmission-line from Masaka-Bukoba, the SGR to Isaka and, eventually, to Uganda and beyond, to mention just some.
The dedication you show must have been supported by your dear husband and family. I have met your son, Mr. Abdul, a few times.
It must, therefore, be a great loss to you. I pray that the Almighty God sees you through these dark days. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Signed:
Yoweri K. Museveni
President of the Republic of Uganda

Dear Dr Mirembe and colleagues ,
Government hospitals may not always have every prescribed medicine in stock, which may require patients to purchase some drugs from private pharmacies. That has been the established procedure when supplies are unavailable.
However, we have discovered that in some health facilities, government-purchased medicines are being stolen and illegally sold to nearby private pharmacies. This is unacceptable and denies vulnerable Ugandans access to the treatment they deserve.
I appeal to all health professionals to uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity by ensuring that government-supplied medicines are used for the intended patients in our public health facilities. Many of our people cannot afford to buy these essential drugs, and they depend entirely on the medicines provided by Government.
