[THE SKIN DOCTOR @theskindoctor13]

Alok Kumar Singh from UP, a maths professor at a private college in Mumbai, known among colleagues as calm, polite, and soft-spoken, was travelling in a local train.

He asked a man standing at the gate to give him space to get down. That small request turned into an argument. The man, later identified by police as Omkar Shinde, stabbed him to death and fled.

Once again, a productive life was ended by a fringe. Shinde will be arrested, jailed, then out on bail. The case will crawl for years with hearings, dates, and delays. If there is any outcome at all, it will likely be a few years in prison. This is what we call “justice”, mostly to help ourselves cope. Because once you are dead, there is no justice. No punishment, no verdict can bring it back.

Professor sahab was a gentle man. He surely wasn’t looking for a fight. This couldn’t have been just about being told to move aside, such rage doesn’t come from nowhere.

What remains is a destroyed family. He was married just two years ago.

Instead of opposing the UGC equity regulations, BJP’s general category (GC) leaders are justifying them with illogical arguments. Here’s a point-by-point rebuttal to @nishikant_dubey:

1. Firstly, what he is repeatedly quoting comes from Article 15 of the Constitution, not Article 14. Strange an MP doesn't know this. Article 15 prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth. However, the same article, through clauses 15(3) to 15(6), permits preferential treatment such as minority welfare, reservation, and special provisions for certain groups based on those very identities. This creates an internal contradiction, where equality is stated in principle but limited in application.

2. The SC/ST Atrocities Act exists despite Article 15. Article 15 won’t prevent misuse of UGC regulations against GC students in the same way it doesn’t prevent misuse of the Atrocities Act.

3. The letter he refers to, which advised universities not to discriminate against “any” caste, dates back to 2023 and carries no statutory force. It cannot override formal, govt-backed UGC Regulations issued in 2026, which explicitly mentions that only SC, ST, OBC, women, and PwD can be discriminated.

4. "We gave EWS for GC students", so what? Does that give you the right to frame regulations that can be used against them? If yes, you have "given" far more benefits to reserved categories as well. Then why haven’t you created anything that can work against them in return? And why is the condemning tone reserved only for GC students?

[THE SKIN DOCTOR @theskindoctor13]

Sports Authority of India (SAI) invited applications for 323 assistant coach vacancies, and with that I learned that we have reservation in this too.

Lol! So athletes expected to compete with the world’s best are trained by coaches selected not purely on merit, but through a welfare framework. This is what happens when sports are treated like a govt employment scheme rather than a national mission to build excellence.

While we’re at it, why not introduce reservation among players representing India in international sporting events like the Olympics? Designate 50% of sporting events as reserved, where only reserved-category persons can represent India, and keep the rest open.

If open-category players win more than 50% of the medals, strip them of their medals and book them under the Atrocities Act. I’m sure this way we’ll soon become Vishwaguru in sports too.

Why are the general category leaders of the BJP silent on the UGC equity regulations?

In Aug 2024, the Union govt advertised 45 joint secretary–level posts through lateral entry, i.e., without reservation. Dalit leaders within the govt, Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi opposed it on principle, forcing the govt to withdraw it.

Only 45 posts! The system would not have collapsed, nor would the sky have fallen. There was no mass outrage either. Yet Dalit leaders took it up as a priority and ensured that those 45 posts too get filled through reservation.

The UGC equity regulations are a thousand times more discriminatory and structurally damaging than that lateral entry scheme. And yet, not a single general category prominent leader in the BJP has found the courage to speak against it.

Imagine, a taxpayer father stood in the cold and watched his taxpayer son die, for two hours.

Not suddenly.
Not instantly.
But slowly, minute by minute, while his voice echoed in the dark.

“Papa, please save me.”

27-year-old Yuvraj Taxpayer Mehta was alive. He was standing on the roof of his car, trapped in a water-filled pit in Greater Noida. He had survived the crash. He had the strength to climb up. He had the presence of mind to call his father.

And the father came running.

What he saw when he reached the spot will haunt him for the rest of his life.

A car sinking.
Cold, black water rising.
His son was visible. Shivering. Calling out.

Police were there. Officials were there. Rescue forces were informed.

And yet, for two hours, nothing happened.

The father pleaded. The son screamed. Time passed.

The car kept sinking because the pit, a massive construction hole left open without barricades, lights, or warnings, had been waiting there like a death trap. Low visibility did the rest. Yuvraj had not driven recklessly. He had driven into the government's negligence.

As his father watched, helpless, his dear boy slowly disappeared under the water.

The authorities refused to help because "water was too cold", "they were scared of iron objects in the water", they didn't have proper equipment".

So the state stood still. This is the reality of our country.

In the end, it was not a uniformed officer who acted. It was a delivery agent named Moninder, who could no longer bear to watch. He jumped into the pit on his own.

By then, it was too late. The car and the boy had disappeared into dark silence.

Ask yourself, was this an accident? Was this his fate?

It was a chain of human decisions: - to leave a pit open,
- to ignore safety,
- to wait instead of act,
- to choose fear over duty.

A father watched his son die that night, not because help was impossible, but because help was delayed until courage arrived too late.

We must ask ourselves something painful, when a citizen can die in full view of the system, crying for two hours, and still be abandoned what exactly are we paying the taxes for? Just to fund the luxurious life of politicians in power and government officials?

The boy's dead body was pulled out the next morning.
