My dissertation topic:
"Preparing the Way & Entering In": Dietrich Bonhoeffer on Helping Others Become Hearers of the Word of God
My supervisor: @huijgen
Second reader: @pgziegler1
I'm reading Bonhoeffer's Letters & Papers from Prison and this thread captures some of my dissonance with his references to a "world come of age". Doesn't feel like a very grown-up world in 1944...
I wrote in the conclusion to 'The Gospel After Christendom,' 'We know that secularism didn't deliver us from evil. Because we're still traumatized in the West by what the Second World War drew out of us, what that war revealed in us. We have yet to heal.'
A debate is dividing evangelicals: Can you pursue deep spiritual formation while remaining theologically orthodox, or does spiritual growth inevitably lead believers away from sound doctrine? @KyleStrobelย https://t.co/MvS7M4kxFF
Launched a new Substack and dropped a new episode of the podcast. Check it out!

Always work as if your doctoral supervisor is looking over your shoulder....
So here I am under the watchful gaze of @huijgen in the @TUApeldoorn Senate Room. At least he's smiling...
Spiritual theology is a sub-discipline in the theological encyclopedia that painfully few evangelicals have engaged adequately. Talbot's Institute for Spiritual Formation (@KyleStrobel) and their Journal for Spiritual Formation and Soul Care are leading the way.
Dear @NHL,
Please let the @EdmontonOilers sign Wayne Gretzky for the last game of the regular season and make a deal with the @SanJoseSharks to let him score however many goals he needs to reclaim the all-time scoring title from Ovechkin.
Would make the playoffs interesting...
What we really need is a system where leaders representing various interests publicly debate the pros and cons of various policies before coming to a decision...
Of course, we want to make sure all of this is on the up and up - so (and I think this is my last idea), we should find a group of experts who can judge whether the policy is actually legal.
